About the Role:
This 18-month career development program provides hands-on experience supporting account teams and assisting with the day-to-day management of commercial insurance programs. You’ll learn how insurance coverage is structured, how risk is evaluated, and how account teams partner with clients and insurance carriers to develop effective insurance solutions.
As part of the program, you’ll build a strong foundation in commercial insurance through structured training and real-world experience. You’ll learn the USI approach, built on insights from thousands of client experiences, while developing an understanding of core coverage concepts and the role of a broker in today’s market. You’ll also build skills in client communication, negotiation support, and account management while gaining insight into how accounts are managed from initial placement through ongoing service.
Throughout the program, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals, explore different areas of the business, and take on increasing responsibility as your knowledge and skills grow.
Program Overview:
The Commercial Insurance Career Track Program provides more than 1,300 hours of structured training and practical hands-on work experience. The program is structured as follows:
- Months 1–3: 100% training
- Months 4–6: 50% training / 50% hands-on experience
- Months 7–18: 20% training / 80% hands-on experience
Training & Development:
- Seven-week coverage curriculum focused on foundational insurance concepts.
- Advanced coverage topics and deep-dive sessions.
- Training led by experienced industry professionals and subject matter experts.
- Exposure to industry best practices and real-world applications.
- Job shadowing opportunities with experienced team members.
- Participation in designation-related projects and assignments.
- Involvement in risk management projects and applied learning exercises.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Support account managers in servicing client accounts across a variety of industries.
- Assist in preparing applications, summaries of insurance, schedules, and other client deliverables.
- Work with insurance carriers to gather information such as loss runs and policy updates.
- Assist with processing policy changes, endorsements, audits, cancellations, and reinstatements.
- Help coordinate client requests and ensure documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Support renewal preparation and ongoing account service activities.
- Participate in team discussions and meetings to learn how client strategies and insurance solutions are developed.
- Apply knowledge learned through training to real client work and projects.
