About the Role:
The VP & Assistant General Counsel plays a pivotal role in supporting business operations by providing expert legal advice on risk, regulatory compliance, and litigation matters. This position offers legal oversight across claims, litigation management, contracts, privacy, confidentiality, and compliance programs. As a strategic partner to leadership, you will help guide both operational and strategic initiatives. The VP & Assistant General Counsel reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer.
What You'll Do:
- Serve as a senior legal advisor to leadership and business stakeholders on strategic initiatives and risk management.
- Oversee material legal matters, including litigation, compliance, investigations, claims, and regulatory issues.
- Provide legal guidance on business operations, products, technology initiatives, and contracts, including drafting, review, and approval.
- Develop, implement, and maintain legal, compliance, and risk management policies, procedures, and controls.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and advise the organization on potential business impacts.
- Manage relationships with external counsel, regulators, and other third parties.
- Provide legal oversight of privacy policies and frameworks.
- Advise on the protection and enforcement of intellectual property and confidential information.
- Support the development and ongoing administration of compliance programs and related training.
What We're Looking For:
- 7-10 years of legal experience, including representation of insurance brokers in an in-house or outside counsel capacity.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one State Bar.
- Experience with compliance and risk management in the insurance brokerage industry.
- In-depth understanding of insurance industry regulations and applicable laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience with matter management platforms preferred.
- Extremely detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

$220-$230k & 30% Bonus
