About the Role:

The Contracting & Commissions Manager is responsible for overseeing all broker contracting, carrier appointments, and commission processing for Medicare and Individual (U65) business. In this role, you will ensure timely and accurate submissions, drive compliance, manage commission workflows, and lead a team of Contracting and Commissions Specialists. You will collaborate closely with Finance, Sales, and Operations leadership to streamline processes, improve reporting accuracy, and strengthen broker and carrier relationships. Your efforts will directly support operational efficiency, financial accuracy, and overall broker satisfaction.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage and develop the Contracting and Commissions team, setting clear performance expectations and ensuring consistent output.
  • Oversee all contracting workflows, including submissions, follow-ups, approvals, and compliance with carrier requirements.
  • Manage end-to-end carrier appointments for Medicare and Individual (U65) business, maintaining strong carrier relationships and resolving escalations.
  • Monitor turnaround times and proactively communicate status updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for contracting and commission processes.
  • Oversee commission processing, including file preparation, validation, uploads, Add-A-Case requests, effective dates, adjustments, and reconciliation.
  • Ensure accurate and timely commission uploads into Comet and support reporting accuracy and month-end close with the Emerson Rogers Commission team.
  • Track carrier payment schedules and resolve missing statements or discrepancies.
  • Maintain tracking tools and dashboards to monitor productivity, accuracy, and service levels.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and data accuracy across contracting and commissions.
  • Ensure data integrity and alignment across systems, documentation, and team communications.

What We're Looking For:

  • 3+ years of experience in insurance operations, carrier or broker contracting, commissions processing, or related areas. Carrier, FMO, or agency experience preferred.
  • 1–2 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Solid understanding of Medicare, Medicare Advantage, ACA Individual (U65), and insurance distribution channels.
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume, time-sensitive workflows with strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with carrier portals, CRM systems, or commission platforms.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to adapt and prioritize in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience in process improvement, workflow optimization, or SOP development is a plus.
