Description and Requirements

General Description: Serve as direct link between the regional finance team, National Accounting Center, and regional account management and sales teams. Responsible for assessing and resolving assigned region’s complex financial issues. Includes directing internal partners to resolve issues as needed.  

Responsibilities:
Assess and resolve complex financial issues in USI’s Commercial Lines (CL) and Employee Benefits (EB) business. Includes aged carrier receivables and payables, aged accounts receivable, cash receipts, direct bill commissions, and premium financing. May include revenue recognition. 
Lead a team of internal USI partners to troubleshoot unresolved issues. Includes regional finance and operations teams, and the National Accounting Center.  
Identify training weaknesses to leadership. Develop and deliver re-training to accounting and operations team members as needed. 
Proactively monitor receivables, payables, etc. to ensure timeliness and avoid cancelations by bringing delinquent and delayed items to resolution. Run and distribute regional unpaid audit reports regularly.
Track and resolve missing employee benefit direct bill commissions from carriers. Includes researching open items, instructing operations and sales teams on actions they need to take with their contacts, and reviewing missing commissions and aged items for new and existing clients. Manage all issues to resolution.
Manage outside broker agreements to ensure accurate commission sharing and compliance with compensation maximums.
Direct Accounting Center or Account Management teams with application and reconciliation of cash receipts and client accounts where client payments are misapplied.
Actively participate in regional financial management activities including Bad Debt and Direct Bill calls. Complete monthly review of AP and AR reports and reconciliation.
Run and distribute financial reports to support assessment and resolution activity. Lead internal USI forms to ensure completion by respective owners.
Collaborate with RFO and Legal department on fee agreements that need attention. May advise RFO on sponsorship and contribution request activity. 
Direct regional partners in adopting best practices between operations and the Accounting Center.
Assist account managers with Sagitta invoicing tools. Serve as subject matter expert in online training offered by CL Training team.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
3 years + of experience in accounting, including general ledger. Or 3 years in a USI account management or Accounting Center role required.
College degree preferred.
Proficiency in SAP, ImageRight Task, Sagitta, Microsoft Excel, and General Ledger required.
Ability to work with all levels of staff and management to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results. 
Ability to work independently with minimal instruction. 
Ability to articulate and direct others to resolve issues.
Organized self-starter that works well in a fast-paced, team environment. 
Strong work ethic with a defined sense of urgency.
Strong attention to detail and retention of pertinent information.
