Description and Requirements

General Description: The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for directing the organization's accounting functions by providing hands-on supervision of the related day to day accounting transactions and monitoring accounts receivable and accounts payables for the various programs. 

Responsibilities: 
Implements operational accounting procedures for internal business groups and/or operations departments that align with Safehold targets.
Oversee and monitor staff completing operational accounting tasks such as creating and clearing entries to accounts, balancing, reconciling, researching and resolving discrepancies and maintaining operational accounting systems and record.
Identify opportunities for efficiencies or improvements.
Monitor daily transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, wires, ACH, cash postings of direct bill commission and internal/external audit requirements 
Ensure that internal and external accounting principles and policies are adhered to.
Resolve escalated problems identified by staff and/or other departments.
May have indirect/direct interaction with customers, brokers, suppliers, or vendors.
Organize financial data into useable information and maintain updated records. 
Track the progress of financial and accounting objectives. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
5 years + accounting experience or a combination of operations and accounting experience.
High school diploma or graduate equivalent degree required. College degree preferred. 
Accounting certification, such as CMA or CPA, is a plus.
Supervisory experience preferred. 
Experience with agency management systems. 
Excellent skills with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.  
Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, laws, and regulations. 
Excellent analytical skills to manage large amounts of data. 
Attention to detail and accuracy and ability to prioritize work.
