Systems Analyst
General Description
We are seeking a skilled Business Systems Analyst with a strong background in insurance systems. The ideal candidate must have recent experience in the insurance industry and will be responsible for supporting both new and existing system initiatives. This role involves defining system capabilities to help the business grow and operate more efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison between business users and the IT team.
- Research problems, plan solutions, and recommend software/system changes.
- Coordinate development efforts to meet business requirements.
- Define project scope in collaboration with line-of-business leaders.
- Develop business cases and financial models for system enhancements.
- Translate user requests into business requirements and technical specifications.
- Produce business requirements documents.
- Develop test plans and test cases; manage system testing and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Collaborate with business leaders to implement projects and application changes.
- Manage system conversion activities including data mapping, system configuration, and data analysis.
- Ensure projects and systems are delivered to end-user satisfaction.
- Define and document current ('as-is') and future ('to-be') workflows; review with LOB leaders.
- Develop project schedules and allocate resources accordingly.
- Execute projects according to the project plan.
- Manage accountability of tasks for project team members.
- Maintain project plans, issue logs, and task tracking in a system of record.
- Interface with vendors to ensure compliance with contractual agreements.
Cyber Security Responsibilities
- Operate in accordance with USI Policies for the Information Security Program (PISP) and Standards for the Information Security Program (SISP).
- Stay current with security updates and implement improvements as needed.
- Protect systems by appropriately defining and managing access controls.
- Upgrade systems by implementing and maintaining security and technical controls.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 3–5 years of IT and/or systems experience; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
- Familiarity with programming or SQL is a plus.
- Must have recent insurance industry experience.
- Hands-on experience supporting insurance systems such as Sagitta, ConceptOne, ImageRight.
- Experience with insurance and/or sales applications and workflows is a plus.
- Strong team orientation and a hands-on, proactive approach.
- Ability to manage multiple high-visibility priorities and rapidly changing projects.
