Description and Requirements

General Description: Responsible for retaining a significant book of business, and ensuring service needs are met. Activities include; new and renewal marketing, and providing excellent customer service and leadership to accounts.

Responsibilities:

• Primary role is relationship manager on a book of business of 500k+ in revenue and does not generally have production responsibilities.

• Responsible for successful retention of assigned book of business.

• Provides technical expertise in analyzing client needs and identifying coverage forms and quotations.

• Develops and advises client of strategic solutions.

• Establishes service plans and coordinates with team members to meet applicable deadlines.

• Manages or directs account marketing, generally utilizing established markets but may be responsible for market development.

• Research market trends, develops strategies and negotiates favorable arrangement and relationships.

• Manages or directs the development of submissions as well as proposals.

• Market, place and review of new and renewal business insurance programs, including proposal preparation and presentation. Negotiate final terms and conditions with carrier as needed.

• Respond to client requests for information, documents, and general insurance inquiries.

• Respond to underwriters’ questions in a timely and professional manner.

• Maintain client files accurately and consistently; responsible for proper documentation of files and proper communication to all in accordance with company workflows, procedures and best practices.

• Conduct and lead client meeting as necessary.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• 5-10 years of insurance brokerage experience.

• Must hold a Life and Disability insurance license. College degree preferred.

• Expert knowledge of Employee Benefits insurance coverages.

• Industry designations strongly preferred.

• Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.

• Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.

• Must be comfortable with internet-based programs and Microsoft office products.

• Able to work in a fast-paced, team environment with minimal instruction.

• Superior communication and negotiation skills.

• A consultative, positive and resourceful approach to dealing with prospects, clients and associates.

• Ability to deal with senior level management and have an executive presence. 


Physical Demands:

Work is performed in a climate controlled office environment with minimal noise and limited to no exposure to chemicals or toxins. Employees operate office equipment including telephone - headset, Computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, copier, scanner and mail machine. Physical tasks of job include driving, walking, sitting, standing and bending.

Analysis of Physical Demands:

• Constantly (over 66% of time) work performed requires employees to drive to client appointments, have repetitive foot movements, walk on uneven or slippery surfaces to and from work and occasionally reach outward to grab things and bend.

• Frequently (34%-66% of time) work performed requires employees to handle and grasp things, walk on normal surfaces, stand and bend.

• Frequently (34%-66% of time) work performed requires employees to use repetitive hand motions such as typing, using a keyboard, and sitting at a desk.

• Rarely (< than 1 hour per week) work performed requires lifting/carrying items that range from 10-50lbs, pushing/pulling items that range from 10-50lbs, twisting/ turning including reaching over shoulder or above head, kneeling or squatting.
