Apply nowGeneral Description: This position is responsible for ensuring our benefits are market-leading, cost-effective, and aligned with our commitment to employee well-being. The Director of Benefits has strategic oversight over all employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit, manage, and develop a high-performing benefits team.
- Develop and execute a strategic plan for USI’s employee health and welfare programs in partnership with brokers.
- Oversee the administration of all group employee benefits programs. Includes medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401(k) savings plans.
- Assess employee programs for effectiveness and return-on-investment. Monitor and manage the cost of benefit plans within the budget.
- Recommend enhancements to USI’s benefit programs and policies. Ensure all plan offerings are market-leading and cost effective.
- Manage annual benefits renewal and negotiations. Manage employee benefits Open Enrollment.
- Identify and integrate new vendor partners to enhance our benefit offerings.
- Craft and execute a strategic communication plan for benefits, ensuring clear and effective messaging to participants.
- Participate with the 401(k) Committee to deliver benefits to employees. Direct annual plan audit.
- Ensure benefit program compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Oversee activities relating to acquisition integration for the USI benefit programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in employee benefits.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Advanced understanding of large, self-funded employee benefit plans and benefits concepts.
- Ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions with minimal oversight.
- Proven management experience with exceptional leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels within the organization.
- Highly motivated, exceptional attention to detail, and top-notch work ethic.
Physical Demands:
Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment with minimal noise and limited to no exposure to chemicals or toxins. Employees operate office equipment including telephone, headset, computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, copier, scanner, and mail machine. Physical tasks of job include walking, sitting, standing, bending, and typing.
Analysis of Physical Demands:
- Constantly (over 66% of time) work performed requires employees to use repetitive hand motions such as typing, using a keyboard, and sitting at a desk.
- Frequently (34%-66% of time) work performed requires employees to handle and grasp things, walk on normal surfaces, stand, and bend.
- Occasionally (1%-33% of time) work performed requires employees to drive to client appointments, have repetitive foot movements, walk on uneven or slippery surfaces to and from work and occasionally reach outward to grab things and bend.
- Rarely (< than 1 hour per week) work performed requires lifting/carrying items that range from 10-50lbs, pushing/pulling items that range from 10-50lbs, twisting/turning including reaching over shoulder or above head, kneeling or squatting.
