General Description: Responsible for administrating a combination of 401(k), profit sharing, money purchase pension, ESOPs and 403(b) deferred compensation plans, and maintaining a proactive relationship with the client.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an extensive knowledge of pension laws and regulations.
  • Act as an advisor to clients by communicating on all administrative issues, keeping clients informed of recent industry trends, conducting employer meetings and delivering quarterly reports.
  • Consult with clients regarding plan needs, plan changes and amendments, makes recommendations for plan changes when needed, explains testing requirements and makes recommendations to help plans pass compliance tests.
  • Prepare IRS forms 5500, 5330, 5310; responsible for meeting IRS and administrative deadlines. File quarterly valuation work papers, 5500 and audit work papers, and plan document related materials
  • Perform coverage and nondiscrimination tests and compute contribution limits.
  • Complete annual plan financials for both daily valued and balance forward plans.
  • Prepare audit packages and work with CPAs during annual tax form audits for larger plans.
  • Work on compliance issues relating to mergers & acquisitions, controlled groups, and full or partial plan terminations.
  • Work with producers on all new and takeover plans including preliminary audit of existing documents for prospective clients. Identify and advise on potential problems.
  • Work with compliance team on document requirements with client and legal advisor for plans with outside-drafted documents.
  • Maintain 30-45 client relationships in a proactive manner; responsible for groups of plans ranging from very few to 2,000 participants. Handle all client telephone calls, email questions and correspondence with the service deliverables timeframes.
  • Understand and review daily valuation reports and quarterly participant statements.
  • Process balance forward valuations including reconciliation of assets, allocation of contributions, investment earnings, calculation of contributions and reallocation of forfeitures.
  • Review participant loans and distributions. Review sample submissions of Domestic Relationship Orders to determine if will meet qualification requirements and operational feasibility, and assist clients with completing the QDRO procedures.
  • Understand other plan issues such as minimum required distributions, joint and survivor requirements, compensation, benefits and contribution limits, and social security integration
  • Manage compliance of plan related forms and maintain plan specific information in department database.
  • Create quarterly invoices and follow-up on aging invoices.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 4 -5 years of experience as a Defined Contribution Administrator. College degree in math, accounting, computers or other business related field.
  • Knowledge of pension laws and IRS regulations.
  • High level of computer literacy including working knowledge of Windows, Excel, Word for Windows and databases.
  • Professional designation such as APA, QPA, QKA, or CEBS preferred.
  • Working knowledge of daily and balance forward valuations and good understanding of plan documents and implications of plan provisions.
  • Experience with Relius document software.
  • Professional designation such as CEBS, CPC or APA preferred.
  • Very strong time management skills, keeps manager informed of problems.
  • Ability to meet production deadlines, attention to detail and ability to self- check work.
  • Excellent research and problems solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.

Salary Range:  $88,000 - $91,000
