The purpose of the DB Actuarial internship is to prepare rising college juniors or seniors for entry into in the field of defined benefits actuarial science. Interns will receive exposure to the business through challenging assignments, projects, and hands experience under the guidance of experienced actuaries. The DB Actuarial Intern will participate in a variety of projects, including:
Responsibilities:
Data Analysis and Manipulation:
- Extract, clean, and validate data from various sources (e.g., databases, spreadsheets).
- Perform data quality checks and identify inconsistencies.
- Analyze data trends and prepare data summaries.
Actuarial Calculations:
- Assist in the calculation of pension liabilities and funding requirements.
- Prepare actuarial valuations and reports.
- Conduct sensitivity analyses to assess the impact of different assumptions on pension plan outcomes.
Project Support:
- Attend client meetings.
- Conduct research on relevant actuarial topics.
- Support the team in various administrative tasks.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Pursuing bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science or Finance.
- Completion of actuarial exams is not required.
- Functional in MS Office software (Word, Excel).
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and juggle priorities.
- Team orientated.
