General Description: 

The EPS Staff Consultant works to develop technical expertise in managing and retaining assigned clients’ retirement plan business.  The Staff Consultant provides exceptional customer service and works effectively with internal teams/resources (i.e. Consultants, Relationship Managers, Legal, etc.) and external vendors (i.e. Voya, MassMutual, John Hancock) to maintain a successful relationship with clients and to provide overall recordkeeping and consulting services for basic retirement plans, including, but not limited to:

Responsibilities: The EPS TPA Staff Consultant should possess a basic understanding of the retirement plan business. They should demonstrate proficiency in customer service and overall client relations. The Staff Consultant will also possess a willingness to learn multiple facets of the retirement business with the intent to eventually handle a book of business that will include 401(k), 403(b), profit sharing and money purchase plans. The Staff Consultant should also possess some understanding of required recordkeeping and/or compliance services for retirement plans. The Staff Consultant assists with team projects as well. The Staff Consultant provides exceptional customer service and works effectively with internal teams/resources (i.e. Compliance, Legal, Producers etc.) and external vendors to maintain a successful relationship with clients and to provide overall recordkeeping and consulting services for retirement plans, including, but not limited to:

Responsible for aspects of recordkeeping for client plans to ensure accurate processing in accordance with department service standards/deadlines and plan documents, including:

·        reconcile asset balances (trust and participant accounts) and work with senior members of the team to resolve discrepancies

·        process transactions, including distribution and loan requests, forfeitures, etc.

·        retrieve and provide reports from partner portals to provide assistance to more senior members of the team

·        maintain accurate and timely recording of work tracking logs

Maintain day-to-day client contact for inquiries on assigned plans where applicable. Correspond with clients, team members, Producers & Relationship Managers to help manage client relationships and respond to all client or participant calls/emails within 4 business hours. 

Work with Sr. Consultant and/Team Leader to review and learn processes for IRS Form 5500/SAR, audit packages, MRDs, and required compliance tests.

·          gather and reconcile required data

·          manage deadlines for assigned tasks and complete assigned portions of checklists

·          communicate with clients/auditors/internal partners as necessary to respond to questions or requests for information

Work with Consultant/Sr. Consultant/Team Leader to identify which projects are part of core services or those that may requiring additional billing. Complete required tracking spreadsheet for projects and non-core TPA services to ensure proper client invoicing.  

Complete special projects as applicable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:       

·        Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Mathematics, Business, Finance or Accounting preferred or equivalent experience

·        Strong computer skills-solid knowledge of Windows environment, including Word & Excel

·        Excellent mathematical aptitude.  Detailed and organized.  Able to multi-task a must

·        Ability to meet all client deliverables requiring extended working hours during peak work periods

·        Excellent communication, accounting and interpersonal skills

·        Two or more years related business experience preferred; ASPPA RPF certificate completion preferred or willing to obtain

·        Relius Administration experience a plus
