The Sr. Consultant demonstrates a high degree of technical expertise in managing and retaining assigned clients’ retirement plan business and handling client relation issues. The Sr. Consultant possesses proficiency in providing recordkeeping and compliance services for various types of plans, including 401(k), 403b, profit sharing, money purchase, non-qualified, etc. Sr. Consultant will provide mentorship & oversight with team projects, training, peer review and new business conversions. The Sr. Consultant also works with the Director of Operations and Team Leader as applicable to review team processes and procedures. Sr. Consultant provides exceptional customer service and works effectively with internal teams/resources (i.e. Compliance, Legal, Producers etc.) and external vendors to maintain a successful relationship with clients and to provide overall recordkeeping and consulting services for complex retirement plans, including, but not limited to:
Responsibilities:
Responsible for all aspects of recordkeeping for client plans to ensure accurate processing in accordance with department service standards/deadlines and plan documents, including:
- Reconcile asset balances (trust and participant accounts) and resolve discrepancies
- Perform plan calculations when necessary, including eligibility, contributions, match, profit sharing, etc.
- Process transactions, including distribution and loan requests, forfeitures, etc.
- Ensure compliance with plan document & IRS/DOL regulations as well as plan administrative practices
- Participate in peer review process to ensure accuracy
- Maintain accurate and timely recording of work tracking logs
- Participate in plan design client calls
- Assist other Consultants as needed with more complex plan issues
- Oversee projects and report results and progress to Team Leader and/or Director of Operations
Maintain day-to-day client contact for inquiries on assigned plans. Correspond with clients, team members, Producers & Relationship Managers to help manage client relationships and respond to all client or participant calls/emails within 4 business hours.
Utilize industry knowledge with less experienced staff to mentor on systems and processes, work with team members to develop their compliance and consulting skills, resolve more complex reconciling issues, research complicated plan issues, and help correct errors.
Prepare IRS Form 5500/SAR, audit packages, MRDs, required compliance tests, including but not limited to:
- ADP/ACP, Top Heavy, 402g, 410(b), 415 & new comparability tests
- Gather and reconcile required dataC
- Coordinate with EPS Team to ensure consistency in procedures, client questionnaires, etc.
- Manage deadlines and complete assigned portions of checklists
- Communicate with clients/auditors as necessary to respond to questions or requests for information
- Review results, develop corrective actions, present results/reports to clients
Provide guidance to team members to help identify which projects are part of core services or those that may requiring additional billing. Complete required tracking spreadsheet for projects and non-core TPA services to ensure proper client invoicing.
Participate in the transition of new business, provide consultative plan design discussions on document restatements; participate in periodic transition meetings/calls; review loans and system specs; assist other team members with conversions.
Complete special projects as applicable, such as plan corrections, match, and\or profit-sharing calculations, DOL calculations, and VCP filings.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Business, Finance or Accounting preferred or equivalent experience
- Seven or more years related TPA/retirement experience required ASPPA exam completion/certification required or willing to obtain
- Strong computer skills-solid knowledge of Windows environment, including Word & Excel
- Excellent mathematical aptitude. Detailed and organized. Able to multi-task a must.
- Ability to meet all client deliverables requiring extended working hours during peak work periods
- Excellent communication, accounting and interpersonal skills
- Relius Administration experience a plus

Salary Range is $70,000 - $75,000, plus potential for compensation incentives
