General Description: Responsible for independently and proactively managing Surety client accounts. Activities include new and renewal marketing, client service, and retention. Provide technical expertise on Surety bond types and current market conditions. Assist Sales Executive and Account Executives.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide advanced technical support to assigned Surety Clients. Manage client relationships to ensure retention and growth of the book of business. 
  • Facilitate the underwriting process. Includes marketing submissions, preparing indemnity, underwriting approvals, and communication between clients and carriers.
  • Provide Surety technical expertise to clients, Sales Executives, and Account Executives. Includes analysis of client needs, coverage forms, and capacity.
  • Manage the bond cycle through USI’s service platform. Produce new bonds, riders, continuation certificates, and consents. Ensure timely approvals, quotes, and bond delivery.
  • Participate in face-to-face client meetings. Includes proposal preparation and presentation.
  • Maintain underwriting files with up-to-date financial information on active accounts and work-in-progress schedules. Request information as needed.
  • Adhere to Surety Company’s granted Line of Authority or seek underwriting approvals.
  • Manage client renewal expirations to avoid any lapse in coverage.
  • Contribute information and ideas during client strategy meetings.  
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy in agency management systems. 
  • Adhere to Surety Standard Operating procedures and USI information workflows.
  • Direct work and delegate tasks to Surety Account Representatives.
  • Respond to accounting issues and make updates within prescribed timelines. 
  • May assist in the development of new team members. 
  • Understand basic working knowledge of company financial presentations.
  • Keep current on Surety industry trends, coverages, and updates.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • 4-10 years of experience in a Commercial Property & Casualty Insurance Agency. 
  • College degree preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Surety coverages, underwriting, and rating concepts.  
  • Must hold or obtain a Property & Casualty insurance license. 
  • Must have a Notary License or willing to obtain within one year of hire (varies by office).
  • Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.  
  • Comfortable with internet-based programs and Microsoft Office products. 
  • Knowledge of Tinubu/Sagitta/ImageRight preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with minimal instruction.
  • Sets priorities and manages workflow to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities.

Physical Demands:
Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment with minimal noise and limited to no exposure to chemicals or toxins. Employees operate office equipment including telephone - headset, Computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, copier, scanner and mail machine. Physical tasks of job include walking, sitting, standing and bending.

Analysis of Physical Demands:
  • Constantly (over 66% of time) work performed requires employees to use repetitive hand motions such as typing, using a keyboard, and sitting at a desk.
  • Frequently (34%-66% of time) work performed requires employees to handle and grasp things, walk on normal surfaces, stand, and bend. 
  • Occasionally (1%-33% of time) work performed requires employees to drive to client appointments, have repetitive foot movements, walk on uneven or slippery surfaces to and from work and occasionally reach outward to grab things and bend.
  • Rarely (< than 1 hour per week) work performed requires lifting/carrying items that range from 10-50lbs, pushing/pulling items that range from 10-50lbs, twisting/turning including reaching over shoulder or above head, kneeling or squatting.
