General Description: Oversee marketing and placement activities for ancillary coverages within the region. Includes management of ancillary analysts and the region’s ancillary financial results. Serve as the champion for USI’s panel carrier strategy. Focus is on dental, vision, life AD&D, disability, and worksite.  

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for recruitment, selection, onboarding, management, and development of Benefit Analysts specializing in ancillary coverages. 
  • Coordinate team workflow, case assignments, and develop/evolve processes.
  • Provide guidance and support to analysts on financial analyses. 
  • Educate leaders, producers, and account management on the panel carrier strategy and process. 
  • Communicate with Account Management team leaders to identify groups with upcoming renewal that could significantly impact regional financials. 
  • Use internal tools and systems to monitor all ancillary new business and renewal activity. 
  • Prepare analyses with some customization. Analyses may include:
    • Market review analysis
    • Rate and contribution analysis
    • Financial, contractual, and rate comparisons and analysis
    • Claims utilization
  • Serve as primary contact with insurance carriers on new business quotes and renewals. Includes requesting quotes and evaluating proposals.
  • Oversee the process of marketing and illustrating carrier quotes for dental, vision, life, disability, and worksite products.
  • Act as an ancillary product subject matter expert for sales executives. Develop strategic plans and solutions for prospects and clients.
  • Is the point of escalation for complex ancillary carrier service issues.
  • Raise awareness of financial opportunities and risks related to the placement and renewal of specific ancillary business.
  • Monitor the qualification requirements for ancillary carrier bonus programs for the region. Includes total premium dollars, new business growth, and persistency.
  • Work with local and regional management on the forecasting of contingent and supplemental revenue.
  • Work with regional and corporate teams to implement best practices, tools, and processes to improve the overall client experience.
  • Develop and track team goals. Complete performance management process.
  • Participate in the peer review process, primarily as a reviewer. Mentor analysts via their reviewed work.
  • Develop and maintain excellent carrier relationships.
  • Keep current on industry information, technology, and trends.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • 5 years + experience in Employee Benefits related field. Previous experience in sales or operations with an ancillary product line carrier preferred.  
  • Must have strong working knowledge of broker compensation structures with ancillary carriers. 
  • Ability to manage a team of associates.
  • Ability to influence others, including leaders, sales associates, and account managers.
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain a Life & Disability insurance license. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal instruction and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Able to set priorities and manage workflow to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate deliverables. 
  • Ability to manage and negotiate multiple priorities and deadlines. 
  • Working knowledge of Adobe and Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel. 
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel 10-20%.
