The Sales and Service Representative is responsible to meet and exceed revenue target goals by actively soliciting and selling various Group Employee Benefit products to groups 1 to 9 lives by making outbound calls to established customers and prospects in the Southeast Pennsylvania market. The goal is to sell plans that include medical, dental, vision, life and disability products. Also responsible for maintaining established retention and cross-sell goals on assigned accounts by direct contact with designated client contacts and Decision Makers including assisting with open enrollment, processing and service related responsibilities.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Sales Responsibilities:

  • Meet monthly and annual sales revenue goals by directly soliciting existing customers and prospects by phone (75%) and visits (25% for 10+ accounts)to screen, qualify and sell current products appropriate to the size of the firm as gathered from internally devised lists.
  • Respond to incoming sales calls in an effective and timely manner to successfully close the sale.
  • Explain and discuss product details to customers in an appropriate manner to ensure client understanding.
  • Follow-up with prospects as needed to help ensure capture of sale. Ensure accurate and timely completion of paperwork as needed.
  • Record all order/lead status information in the Company sales tracking system, including all activity and follow-up details in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Communicate effectively with sales management team about activity status and need for assistance to close a deal as needed.

Client Relations Responsibilities:

  • Frequently attend client meetings to ensure maintenance of relationship and service requirements.
  • Manage New Business and Client Renewals and Cross-Sell Opportunities, including but not limited to: evaluation of all market carriers, review of plan alternatives, and recommendations relating to benefit plans and creates proposals needed for renewals to ensure appropriate products that meet customers' needs.
  • Prepare and deliver Final Presentations taking into consideration budgetary and client business goals and objectives.
  • Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with the decision makers at assigned clients.
  • Execute Open Enrollment for all assigned accounts to ensure timely enrollment and full understanding of benefits by the group.
  • Participate in client Stewardship program.
  • Must provide ongoing regulatory updates to clients as appropriate
  • Must attend association conventions, activities in a public relations and or sales capacity as directed by management and as reasonably required to establish and maintain relationships with Association leadership and members

QUALIFICATIONS - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience selling Life and Health insurance products with strong ability to close sales (medical insurance products preferred).
  • Must have experience (approx. 1+ years) making outbound calls in a high volume environment.
  • Experience working with sales tracking software in an accurate and timely manner.

LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS -- Ability to work with basic math skills. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.


REASONING ABILITY -- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.


COMPUTER SKILLS - Must be proficient in the MS Office suite of products including Word and Excel. Must be able to learn and work with any corporate Proprietary software tools including sales tracking systems.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS - Must have current Life and Health license.



  • Exceptional communications and customer service skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast paced, deadline driven, solutions oriented sales environment.
  • Strong knowledge of various insurance products including various Medical, Life, AD&D and Disability products and knowledge of the related carrier/marketplace is required. Must be proficient in associated regulations including, but not limited to Affordable Care Act and ERISA regulations
  • Must have strong sales orientation and ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships as well as the ability to deal effectively with difficult or sensitive situations.
  • Must be able to consistently meet or exceeds sales/revenue targets as established by the company.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have strong verbal communication skills.
  • Must have valid drivers license.

Travel (if applicable) - This position requires 25% travel. Must be able to travel on all forms of transportation.
