General Description: Determine whether prospective client accounts can be placed within existing brokerage market carrier partners. Identify and arrange for appropriate insurance coverage through accessible brokerage and program markets. Provide management and oversight for Internal Broker Specialists and/or existing brokers in assigned Line of Business. Cultivate trading relationships with USI offices placing wholesale business that aligns with the assigned Line of Business. Manage P&L to established key metrics and grow business within management expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for full-cycle recruitment, management, and development of assigned team. Includes providing leadership and guidance, training, and performance management.
  • Responsible for performance of Internal Brokers and/or existing commissioned brokers in assigned vertical.
  • Work with leadership to strategically engage key USI offices with wholesale business opportunities that align with assigned vertical.
  • Manage assigned P&L with a focus on Simple Net New growth and proper cost controls to achieve proper profit margins.
  • Market, quote, and bind new and renewal business directed to internal wholesale brokerage team.
  • Identify the appropriate market, price, coverage, terms, and conditions for internal clients.
  • Identify the need, order, and evaluate additional risk assessment information.
  • Evaluate quotes and contract provisions offered by insurance markets. Present pricing and terms.
  • Take policy to completion with recommending and binding coverage, invoicing, and policy issuance.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal resources and existing insurance carriers.
  • Build relationships with new insurance carriers, while also assisting to expand product offerings with current market partners.
  • Accountable for ensuring a high degree of accuracy in agency management systems.
  • Engage in professional development and relevant industry training, if needed.
  • Maintain necessary licenses to underwrite business.
  • Keep informed about industry information, technology, and trends.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 5-7 years of Property & Casualty brokerage or underwriting experience.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Broad and deep knowledge of insurance industry market and appetite.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Ability to meet established performance and revenue targets.
  • Ability to provide market intelligence, consultation, and client-specific assistance to inside sales associates.
  • Willingness to travel 33%-50% of the time in accordance with business development duties.

Physical Demands

Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment with minimal noise and limited to no exposure to chemicals or toxins. Employees operate office equipment including telephone - headset, computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, copier, scanner, and mail machine. Physical tasks of job include walking, sitting, standing, and bending.

Analysis of Physical Demands:

     Constantly (over 66% of time) work performed requires employees to use repetitive hand motions such as typing, using a keyboard, and sitting at a desk.

     Frequently (34%-66% of time) work performed requires employees to handle and grasp things, walk on normal surfaces, stand, and bend.

     Occasionally (1%-33% of time) work performed requires employees to drive to client appointments, have repetitive foot movements, walk on uneven or slippery surfaces to and from work and occasionally reach outward to grab things and bend.

 Rarely (< than 1 hour per week) work performed requires lifting/carrying items that range from 10-

50lbs, pushing/pulling items that range from 10-50lbs, twisting/turning including reaching over shoulder or above head, kneeling or squatting.
