Use your professional liability/E&O underwriting skills to assess Lawyers Professional Liability risks for small attorney firms.  In this role you will develop and negotiate premium and manage relationships with producers/account executives in order to provide the appropriate insurance product to clients and generate profit in accordance with company goals.  Available locations include Matawan, NJ, Newtown Square, PA (Phila area) or Remote (accessible by car or train to Matawan,NJ for the right individual).  

Note: We are currently working in a remote/virtual environment through 12/31/20.


·         Analyze risk through the evaluation of application, website, claims history, file notes, etc. to determine the appropriate market, coverage, limits and premium that can be offered to an applicant for insurance in accordance with company initiatives.

·         Determine the applicable endorsements and apply rating, including credits and debits within filed ranges, to ensure safe profitable distribution of risks while remaining competitive in offerings.

·         Issue quotations or declinations for accounts according to program guidelines. 

·         Communicate with others to gather information and explain company underwriting policies/requirements.

·         Review company records to ensure file and data integrity.

·         Manage relationships with producers/account executives to provide responsive assistance, develop a profitable flow of submissions, enhance retention and gather feedback on the marketplace.


  • High School Degree or G.E.D. is required, college degree is preferred
  • Experience in an underwriting environment including rating and processing or underwriting new or renewal business.  Professional Liability experience or Misc. E&O/D&O is required (lawyers professional liability experience is helpful).
  • P&C license required or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment


·     Strong customer service orientation along with excellent follow-up skills, organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.

·     Ability to set priorities and manage workflow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities.

·     Ability to maintain cordial and effective relationships with clients, co-workers, carriers, vendors and other business contacts.

·     Ability to interact with others effectively by utilizing good communication skills, cooperating purposefully, and providing information and guidance, as needed, to achieve the business goals of USI Affinity. 

·     Adequate knowledge of rating procedures, underwriting procedures, coverages and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain and write assigned client and prospect lists.

Ability to read and interpret carrier generated loss runs.
