Staff Accountant II


The Staff Accountant II position is responsible for preparing financial statements reports and miscellaneous reporting along with conducting heavy analysis of trends, revenues, costs, etc. and participating in oversight of internal controls with minimal assistance from others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports and variance analysis for multiple business units  in an accurate and timely manner;

Analyze trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.

Report organization's finances to management, and offers suggestions about resource utilization and assumptions underlying budget forecasts

In charge of broker and producer commission calculation and analysis

Full knowledge of business modules and system data to generate complex spreadsheets to support analysis and forecast

Assist in maintaining and improving adequate internal controls over financial procedures and reporting in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and internal policies

Contribute to special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelors of Science in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university

Estimated 2-3 years of direct accounting experience preferred including experience preparing month-end balance sheets and researching P&L variances.

LANGUAGE SKILLS- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Good written and oral communication skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS- Ability to work with and apply basic math concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Must deal with all financial data in a confidential manner.  

REASONING ABILITY- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Must be proficient in the MS Office suite of products including Word, Excel. 

Must know how to use Vlookup, Sumif, Sumifs, Pivot tables and filters for basic reconciliation and reporting purposes.

Ability to design and implement complex reconciliation, reporting and analysis with extracted data.

Experience with SAP Accounting Software is a plus.
