General Description:
The Senior Tax Analyst will report to the Director of Tax and will be responsible for preparing and filing federal and state income tax returns, assisting with sales tax audits, responding to tax notices, and assisting with tax intangibles, fixed assets, and doing tax research as requested.
Responsibilities:
- Federal compliance responsibilities will include: the preparation of assigned Federal pro-forma returns, and the necessary depreciation, amortization, and support schedules and attachments for the federal consolidated return.
- State compliance responsibilities will include: the preparation of assigned State Income / Franchise tax returns, the preparation state apportionment detail, and the timely payment and filing of estimated payments and extensions.
- Develops a strong working proficiency with the OneSource Compliance software.
- Assist with the mailing and e filing of tax returns and the processing of tax payments.
- Tax accounting responsibilities will include providing the Tax team with critical quarterly support documentation and calculations (ie tax depreciation, tax amortization).
- Conducts tax research and provides support to the field on sales tax and property tax filing requirements.
- Stays current of federal and state tax law changes that impact the Company and his/her area of responsibility.
- Manages miscellaneous tax filings, administers and trouble shoots tax notices, and lends support in scheduling the workload and timelines within the Dept.
- Interface with the corporate accounting department to obtain all required financial data to complete tax requirements.
- Assists with tax planning and special projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Accounting/Finance (MBA or CPA a plus)
- 3 to 7 years of diverse of tax experience with a large corporation with multiple locations throughout the US
- Ability to communicate effectively and convey complex tax rules to colleagues and co-workers.
- Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment
- Ability to manage competing priorities and the pressures associated with tax filings as well as special project requirements, accounting deadlines, and audit demands.
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical / problem solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills focused on meeting deadlines.
- Strong work-paper and documentation skills
- Proficient with Excel & Word and tax research materials (Checkpoint, CCH, and OneSource Tax Systems)
- Detail oriented and active learner
- Strong interpersonal skills
