Description and Requirements
General Description: Responsible for supporting new system initiative efforts. Define systems capabilities (custom or purchased) to enable the business to grow. Performs project management activities for the approved systems initiative efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Research problems and plan solutions. Recommend software and system changes. Coordinate development to meet business requirements.
- Act as liaison between business users and the IT team.
- Work directly with development team to prioritize and implement changes.
- Develop business cases and financial models for systems enhancements and net new systems.
- Interact with customers and transform user requests into business requirements and technical specifications.
- Develop test plans and test cases. Perform Quality Acceptance (QA) testing.
- Manage system testing and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Define “as is” and “to be” workflows and review with line of business leaders.
- Performs comparative evaluation of internal duplicative systems and system alternatives. Present recommendations and findings to senior management.
- Subject matter expert (SME) in insurance and/or sales workflows and applications.
- Work with business leaders and IT to implement projects and systems changes.
- Manage system conversion activities including data mapping, data analysis, system configuration
- Define and maintain systems analysis standards, deliverables, and processes.
- Develop and maintain project plans, issues logs and tasks in a system of record.
- Review project progress with project team including senior management.
- Manage accountability of tasks for project members.
- Write periodic project status reports for management.
- Interface with vendors to ensure vendor compliance to contractual agreements.
- Build and maintain reporting tools in Excel and SQL Server.
- Work with Excel data sources, connections, and Power Query to implement reporting solutions.
- Work with business leaders to define and refine reporting requirements.
- Work with development team to implement more complex SQL Server reporting solutions.
- Leverage SQL Server Management Studio and query skills to troubleshoot system data issues.
Cyber Security Job Responsibilities:
- Configure, develop, design, architect, implement, acquire, and operate systems in accordance with:
- USI Policies for the Information Security Program (PISP)
- USI Standards for the Information Security Program (SISP)
- Keep up to date with security updates and improvements to safeguard information system assets by identifying and solving potential and actual security problems.
- Protect systems against damage, changes, or illegal access by defining access privileges, control structures, and resources.
- Implement security improvements by assessing current situation; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
- Upgrade systems by implementing and maintaining security and technical controls.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 5-7 years IT and/or systems experience. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
- Project management experience.
- Familiarity with SQL a plus.
- Experience with insurance or sales applications and workflows a plus.
- Team orientation and hands-on approach.
- Experience with Agile or software development methodology a plus.
- Able to manage multiple and rapidly changing, high visibility priorities and projects.
- Excel Power-user.
- Proficient with Excel data sources, connections, and Power Query.
- Working knowledge of Excel VBA.
- Working knowledge of SQL Server Management Studio.
- (SSIS, SSAS and SSRS).
- Ability to write basic to intermediate level SQL queries.
- Ability to read and understand more complex SQL queries
