Description and Requirements

The Role:

As a Senior Business Intelligence Developer, you will lead the delivery of complex Power BI projects and serve as a key technical resource for our Business Intelligence team. You'll support and troubleshoot BI technologies, collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, design and synthesize datasets, build reports, perform ad-hoc analyses, and prioritize projects based on business impact. Your expertise will help improve the accuracy, accessibility, and efficiency of our data and reporting processes, and you may also conduct exploratory data analysis to deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and develop complex Power BI reports and dashboards using advanced DAX expressions tailored to business needs.
  • Provide daily technical support to the BI team, especially in Power BI, DAX, SQL, Snowflake, and tabular data models. Mentor team members on BI best practices and coding techniques.
  • Conduct peer reviews and offer constructive feedback on team-created objects.
  • Contribute to the strategic design and development of BI information models, dashboards, metrics, and reports aligned with business goals.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to define requirements, communicate project progress, and deliver insights through effective data visualizations.
  • Manage project meetings, set expectations, and resolve issues autonomously. Work with other analysts to ensure timely project completion.
  • Combine programming, SQL expertise, and business acumen to deliver efficient and scalable BI solutions that drive productivity and business outcomes.
  • Lead and facilitate technical requirements gathering and process modeling sessions, proactively addressing challenges with minimal oversight.
  • Contribute to the design and evolution of the Data and Reporting Architecture, focusing on improving report development and user experience.
  • Create and maintain report documentation.
  • Drive proof-of-concept (POC) and innovation project discussions.
  • Perform ad-hoc data extraction and analysis to support business inquiries and decision-making.
  • Extract, cleanse, and transform data from various internal and external sources. Conduct data profiling to identify anomalies and ensure data integrity.
  • Work primarily with Microsoft technologies including Power BI, Power Query, SQL, SSAS, DAX, and Snowflake. Demonstrate proficiency in understanding diverse data structures and transformation techniques.
  • Establish policies and procedures for data collection and analysis.
  • May provide direct or dotted-line management to BI Developers.

Cyber Security Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate in accordance with company Policies for the Information Security Program and Standards for the Information Security Program.
  • Stay current with security updates and improvements, implementing enhancements as appropriate.
  • Protect systems against unauthorized access by appropriately defining access controls.
  • Upgrade systems by implementing and maintaining security and technical controls.

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience with Power BI, Power BI Service, DAX, SQL, and data analytics.
  • 2+ years of experience in tabular data modeling.
  • 1+ years of experience working within an Agile/Scrum project methodology.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior leadership or team mentoring experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to document requirements.
  • Familiarity with insurance brokerage or sales workflows and systems is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven success in managing expectations and outcomes with business leaders.

Salary Range:  $150,000- $165,000.  This is a bonus eligible position with a target incentive of 10%.
