General Summary:
- The Defined Contribution (DC) Senior Analyst is a role for an experienced benefits administrator. The DC Senior Analyst is the primary client contact in providing daily administration and related services for defined contribution retirement plans, such as 401(k), profit sharing, and employee stock ownership plans. This is a career-track position, potentially leading to a Consultant role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary contact for our clients with regard to recordkeeping and retirement plan administration.
- Communicate effectively with clients and partners to facilitate day-to-day operations; understand clients’ needs, concerns, and ideas; and manage expectations.
- Proactively anticipate clients’ needs, identify complex issues for clients, and recommend solutions and/or escalate issues to consultants.
- Learn the plan provisions for each client and understand the technical rules that govern plans to ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and the plan document.
- Follow established procedures in servicing clients, in order to complete routine work efficiently and manage risk.
- Perform complex tasks and problem-solving under minimal supervision.
- Inspect results and compare them with client and consultant expectations before turning in work for review.
- Recommend processes to improve client service and/or business results.
- Research and develop information to support consultants in resolving client issues and questions.
- Provide training and guidance to less experienced associates.
- Perform work efficiently to attain individual billing and realization rate goals, which directly affect the profitability of the firm.
- Answer questions from clients, participants, partners, and coworkers.
- Understand the technology / software used in the job and assist Analysts with trouble-shooting or problem-solving.
- Review and approve daily processing, quarterly valuation reporting, and client billing.
- Monitor plan and regulatory deadlines and work with the team to ensure our commitments are met.
- Perform eligibility determinations, vesting updates, loan defaults, and similar activities.
- Reconcile all work products.
- Prepare client reports and participant statements.
Specific/Individual Core Competencies:
- Experienced in the operation, design, and regulations governing DC plans
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and/or Access
- Ability to meet deadlines with the highest degree of accuracy
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to track multiple tasks and issues, set goals, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Finance, or related is preferred;
- 4+ years of employee benefits or DC experience;
- ASPPA or CEBS exams preferable; and
- Demonstrated record of success in academics and/or on the job
