General Description:

The Senior Program Manager is responsible for driving growth and profitability for one or multiple Programs under management. 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training and development of the team.
  • Manage employees through performance reviews, performance improvement plans, setting priorities, developing work plans and schedules, handling department issues, recording time and attendance and approval of expense reports.
  • Identify, plan and resolve routine department coverage and workload issues. Take necessary action to resolve issues.
  •  Provides management oversight and P&L responsibility for specific insurance programs. 
  • Recommends to management the authority levels for underwriting staff and amendments/enhancements to applicable program. 
  • Manages applicable program parameters, including portfolio metrics, program strategy and ensures underwriting profitability and compliance in line with carrier and regulatory standards.
  • Detailed understanding of reinsurance placements and marketing
  •  Knowledge regarding high SIR and LC deductible plans for transportation risk
  • Serves as the most senior subject matter specialist for applicable program and underwrites the most highly complex assignments, determines appropriate price and develops rate tables, coverage grant, terms and conditions.
  • Markets companies' products and services through defined distribution sources, developing/maintaining applicable agency/broker/direct account relationships.
  • Collaborates with actuarial, operations, loss control, and claims functional staff in the execution of agreed program strategy and identification of program opportunities.
  • Provides leadership support to less experienced staff.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned and participate in special projects as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·         College degree preferred but high school diploma or graduate equivalent degree required. 

·         5+ years of insurance experience.

·         5+ years of management experience

·         Proficient in MS Office suite of products

·         Experience in truck and transportation underwriting preferred.

·         Experience managing an underwriting business, product development, customer retention, and claims advocacy for one or more insurance programs.

·         Experience participating in the development and implementation of sales and service goals to ensure that organizational and customer goals are met.

·         Ability to develop and lead implementation of strategic business initiatives, marketing strategies, and campaigns.

·         Ability to provide market intelligence, consultation, and client-specific assistance to producers.

·         Constantly (over 66% of time) work performed requires employees to use repetitive hand motions such as typing, using a keyboard, and sitting at a desk.

·         Frequently (34%-66% of time) work performed requires employees to handle and grasp things, walk on normal surfaces, stand and bend.

·         Occasionally (1%-33% of time) work performed requires employees to drive to client appointments, have repetitive foot movements, walk on uneven or slippery surfaces to and from work and occasionally reach outward to grab things and bend.

·         Rarely (< than 1 hour per week) work performed requires lifting/carrying items that range from 10-50lbs, pushing/pulling items that range from 10-50lbs, twisting/turning including reaching over shoulder or above head, kneeling or squatting.
