General Description:
The Senior Graphic Designer is a critical part of our Employee Benefits Communication team at USI. The primary responsibility is to manage and design a wide variety of human resources related projects for external clients including employee communications, change management, compensation, retirement, ESOP, and HR service delivery. This position creates visual designs and concepts to maximize client communications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create designs, concepts, and layouts based on knowledge of layout principles, esthetic design concepts, and client branding requirements
- Select colors, images, fonts, etc. to best support the messages that the design should portray
- Assemble final layouts for printing or other distribution method
- Work with print broker on key project management tasks, such as mailing lists, billing, and obtaining quotes
- Create visual models, infographics and other tools that can translate complex communication messages into clear graphical images
- Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with team as needed for a wide range of client projects and communication strategies and campaigns
- Demonstrate strong project management skills while working independently and cooperatively on multiple projects, meeting deadlines and budget constraints
- Participate in meetings with clients and prospective clients
- Work with writers and project managers to determine client needs for graphic design.
- Advise communication consultants on strategies for unique communication channels, including web and social media options.

Technical Skills Required:
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro
- Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Advanced PowerPoint (including animations, image optimization, video, hyperlinks, navigation, and charting)
- Fundamental knowledge of core design principles (typography, design & layout, web & print production process and composition)
- Crystal Reports and In-Design programming a plus, not required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design
- 3 years’ experience in the graphic design field, working with internal or external clients
- Demonstrated design skills
- Strong organizational/project-management skills
- Must be detail-oriented with ability to multi-task
- Strong verbal communication, writing, proofreading and analytical skills
- Flexible and able to manage budgets and deadlines
