Responsibilities:
- Underwrites and analyzes new and renewal accounts for the most complex assignments.
- Serves as a subject matter expert to review insurance coverages and policies.
- Assess the risk to determine the appropriate price, coverage and terms and conditions, as well as taking policy to completion with recommending and binding coverage, invoicing and policy issuance.
- Identifies the need, orders, and evaluates additional risk assessment information.
- Underwrites within defined broad limits and authority.
- Establishes underwriting policy and procedures as well as providing reports to management.
- Develops and maintains a working relationship with agencies and communicates effectively through broker negotiations to ensure new business flow and profitable production.
- May be responsible for training and coaching other underwriting team members
- Communicates with agents to obtain supplemental underwriting information.
- Analyze and rate endorsement requests.
- May require some travel for Educational Development or Client Relationship building
- Perform other job duties as assigned and participate in special projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5+ years underwriting experience.
- Knowledge of insurance industry.
- Good negotiating, written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office suite of products.
- Proficiency in utilizing company systems.
- Must have strong organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to travel 15% of the time

- Rarely (< than 1 hour per week) work performed requires lifting/carrying items that range from 10-50lbs, pushing/pulling items that range from 10-50lbs, twisting/ turning including reaching over shoulder or above head, kneeling or squatting.
