General Descriptions:

Outside sales position responsible for driving new business revenue growth of program specific business including cross selling programs where applicable.


  • Achieve new business sales goals on an annualized basis based on our target market of companies related to program specific verticals and new business threshold.
  • Successfully penetrate prospect targets based on defined program criteria to generate sufficient new business leads and first appointment activity volume specific to individual programs.
  • In order to achieve the necessary revenue goals, the employee will be required to develop lists of prospective centers of influence and lead sources with clients that fall in the target groups assigned.

·         Ability to identify and overcome sales obstacles with prospects.

  • Technical knowledge necessary to communicate our solutions effectively to a non-insurance buyer.
  • Engage in professional development; takes advantage of relevant industry and organizational education and training to bolster program specific knowledge.
  • Successfully develop and deploy sales and marketing strategies along with periodic communications to optimize Safehold’s position in the marketplace.
  • Positively and proactively represent Safehold in meetings, seminars, trade shows and networking events.
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Managers, Underwriters, and Account Management team to maximize results.
  • May attend and actively participate in USI University and USI Fast Start sessions.
  • Experienced utilizing sales cycle software/CRM.
  • Must be personable, highly motivated, goal oriented and organized individual that is driven to achieve individual sales goals.

·         May direct the work of others.

·         Perform other job duties as assigned and participate in special projects as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • College degree preferred but high school diploma or graduate equivalent degree required.
  • 3+ years in insurance, carrier, or related business to business sales experience including calling on senior executives and a track record of financial success.

·         Current insurance license preferred (may be required upon hire).

  • Must be proficient in the MS Office suite of products.
  • Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and follow-up skills.

·         Strong and/or developing understanding of Property and Casualty insurance.

  • A consultative, positive and resourceful approach to dealing with prospect, clients and associates.
  • Excellent listening skills with strong customer focus.
  • Good teamwork skills with an ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Understand and commit to mutual objectives of the Safehold program business.
  • Ability to deal with senior level management and have a top-level executive presence.

·         Ability to travel 50% of the time

·         Constantly (over 66% of time) work performed requires employees to use repetitive hand motions such as typing, using a keyboard, and sitting at a desk.

·         Frequently (34%-66% of time) work performed requires employees to handle and grasp things, walk on normal surfaces, stand and bend.

·         Occasionally (1%-33% of time) work performed requires employees to drive to client appointments, have repetitive foot movements, walk on uneven or slippery surfaces to and from work and occasionally reach outward to grab things and bend.

·         Rarely (< than 1 hour per week) work performed requires lifting/carrying items that range from 10-50lbs, pushing/pulling items that range from 10-50lbs, twisting/ turning including reaching over shoulder or above head, kneeling or squatting.
