General Description:

The CG OS Pension Consultant II assists small- and mid-market Defined Benefit -- Outsourcing clients and the CG Pension Administrator team in ensuring compliant administration of pension programs. The Pension Consultant is responsible for guiding the Administrator team on some of the most complex issues and is responsible for ensuring program compliance and satisfaction for outsourcing employer clients.

 

Responsibilities:

  • For assigned small to mid- market clients, assist with answering participant phone calls and monitor Service Center mailboxes for participant inquiries, especially during high call volume instances.
  • Assist Pension Administrators with resolution of all complex inquiries utilizing internal and external resources. Ability to clearly document resolution for future reference.
  • Recognize, delegate, and execute training of daily administrative functions e.g. retiree setups and updates.
  • Perform maintenance of data to allow for calculation of benefits, determination of vesting and other eligibility, and grouping of participants by status type.
  • Accept periodic (census) data files and salary extracts to update client data if applicable.
  • Perform complex participant calculations in accordance with Plan Document, including facilitating QDROs.
  • Design and generate internal and client specific customized reports, as needed.
  • Monitor participant deliverables for assigned book of business.
  • Assist in the installation of new outsourcing clients. Learn format and content of plan documents, especially as it affects outsourcing and benefit calculations including the components. Establish appropriate client contact to allow completion of client duties, including ongoing needs.
  • Participate in / attend client conference calls and meetings, as needed. Play a defined and outlined role in any client presentation.
  • Maintain excellent customer service standards.
  • Comply with departmental and each client's performance standards.
  • Serve as back-up to other clients to cover vacation, sickness, extended hours, etc.
  • Support document imaging.
  • Foster a friendly and efficient working environment through a team-oriented attitude.
  • Additional duties may include:
    • Manage or assist on projects, as needed.
    • Assist in the mentoring of new staff hires.
    • Assist with the coordination with key internal partners to reply to requests and provide client deliverables in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Develop and maintain operating procedures.
    • Perform peer review of generated calculation of benefits and communication packages, including terminated vested, retired, estimates for actives, and lump sums, as necessary.
    • Perform complex participant calculations in accordance with Plan Document, including facilitating QDROs. Document complex resolution to provide future reference for administrators.
 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • College degree desirable, or equivalent job related experience.
  • Generally 6+ years of DB administration/client management experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Products e.g. Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage several concurrent projects; meet deadlines and performance standards.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to think quickly to assess participant inquiries.
  • Math aptitude a plus.
