Apply nowGeneral Description: Assess risks of an intermediate nature, develop and negotiate premium and manage relationships with brokers and carriers in order to provide the appropriate insurance product to clients and generate profit in accordance with company goals.
Responsibilities:
- Under limited supervision, analyze risk through the evaluation of application, website, claims history, file notes, etc. to determine acceptability of risks.
- Obtain supplementary information as needed to underwrite policy.
- Determine the desirability of accepting or rejecting risks within program guidelines.
- May coordinate risk assessment with Underwriting team.
- Underwrite and price exposures in accordance with filed and approved program rate levels and guidelines, as well as taking policy to completion with recommending and binding coverage, invoicing, and policy issuance.
- Identifies the need, orders, and evaluates additional risk assessment information.
- Communicates with agents to obtain supplemental underwriting information as needed.
- Analyze and rate endorsement requests.
- Issue and track conditional/non-renewal notices and cancellations – adhering to regulatory compliance.
- Maintain knowledge of policy terms and endorsements.
- May assist manager in establishing underwriting policy and procedures.
- May require some travel for Educational Development or Client Relationship building.
- Perform other job duties as assigned and participate in special projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of insurance industry.
- 2+ years underwriting experience.
- Good negotiating, written and verbal communication skills.
- Good math skills.
- Proficient in MS Office suite of products.
- Proficiency in utilizing company systems.
- Must have strong organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Research skills required to trouble shoot customer problems.
- Ability to travel 10% of the time.
