General Description: Assess risks of a less complex nature, develop, and negotiate premiums. Manage relationships with brokers and carriers. Provide appropriate insurance product to clients. Generate profit in accordance with company goals.

Responsibilities: 
Under general supervision, review insurance policy applications. Includes review for completeness, accuracy, and acceptability of risks.  
Obtain supplementary information as needed to underwrite policy.  
Determine the desirability of accepting or rejecting risks within program guidelines.
Coordinate risk assessment with Underwriting team.  
Underwrite and price exposures in accordance with filed and approved program rate levels and guidelines. Bring policy to completion with recommending and binding coverage, invoicing, and policy issuance. 
Identify the need, order, and evaluate additional risk assessment information.
Communicate with agents to obtain supplemental underwriting information as needed.
May issue policies and endorsement accurately and update Agency logs.
Analyze and rate endorsement requests.
Issue and track conditional/non-renewal notices and cancellations. Adhere to regulatory compliance.
Maintain knowledge of policy terms and endorsements.
May require some travel for educational development or client relationship building.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
2 years underwriting assistant or rating experience. 
High school diploma or equivalent required.
If position requires servicing and/or underwriting direct client responsibilities (verses indirect), Property & Casualty and/or appropriate business licensure is required.
Broad knowledge of insurance industry.  
Ability to negotiate with strong mathematical skills. 
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products.
Proficiency in utilizing company systems.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.  
Research skills required to troubleshoot customer problems. 
Ability to travel 5% of the time.
