General Description: Inside Sales position focused on driving new business sales, retention, and growing program-specific business mainly through phone sales. Manage client relationships and drive profitability, satisfaction, and organic growth. Includes cross-selling programs where applicable. 

Responsibilities:
  • Achieve annualized and monthly new business sales goals in our target market of companies related to program-specific verticals.
  • Work with Practice Leader/Program Executive to declare a primary industry specialization (vertical). 
  • Call prospects and clients to screen, qualify, and sell USI products in sales vertical. 
  • Use of a consultative sales model to:
    • Identify prospect needs by conducting effective fact-finding.
    • Effectively prepare and present product recommendations and financial solutions.
    • Articulate USI value proposition using existing and newly developed sales tools.
  • With assistance from leadership and account management staff, retain at least 92% of business year over year.
  • Develop and support cross-selling strategies to enhance prospect and client relationships.
  • Maintain a list of prospective centers of influence and lead sources with clients that are in assigned target groups. 
  • Develop and execute a sales business plan and use effective inside sales prospecting strategies. Identify and overcome sales obstacles with prospects. 
  • Understand and explain our competitive differentiation and solutions effectively. 
  • Innovate client solutions using market knowledge and an advanced understanding of technical insurance issues.
  • Respond to incoming sales calls in an effective and timely manner to successfully close the sale.
  • Send applications and related materials to prospects and perform appropriate follow-up to generate and close the sale.
  • Use USI’s contact management and sales automation tools to support sales processes. Input timely and accurate information to facilitate sales and revenue projections and engage technical resources.
  • Take part in national and regional vertical meetings and video calls.
  • Complete and submit sales and production reports to management as requested. 
  • Attend weekly sales meetings as required.
  • Engage in professional development. Includes industry and organizational education and training to bolster program-specific knowledge.
  • Positively represent USI in meetings, seminars, trade shows, and networking events.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • 1+ year of inside sales experience in a fast-paced environment. Track record of sales success. 
  • High school diploma or graduate equivalent degree required; college degree preferred.
  • Must hold or will obtain Property & Casualty and/or appropriate business licensure. 
  • Experience utilizing sales cycle software/CRM.
  • Personable, highly motivated, and goal oriented. Driven to achieve individual sales goals.
  • Superior communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills. 
  • A consultative, positive, and resourceful approach to dealing with prospects, clients, and associates.
  • Ability to deal with senior-level management and have a top-level executive presence.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships. 
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Demands:
Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment with minimal noise and limited to no exposure to chemicals or toxins. Employees operate office equipment including telephone - headset, computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, copier, scanner, and mail machine. Physical tasks of the job include walking, sitting, standing, bending, and typing.

Analysis of Physical Demands:
  • Constantly (over 66% of time) work performed requires employees to use repetitive hand motions such as typing, using a keyboard, and sitting at a desk.
  • Frequently (34%-66% of time) work performed requires employees to handle and grasp things, walk on normal surfaces, stand, and bend. 
  • Occasionally (1%-33% of time) work performed requires employees to drive to client appointments, have repetitive foot movements, walk on uneven or slippery surfaces to and from work and occasionally reach outward to grab things and bend.
  • Rarely (< than 1 hour per week) work performed requires lifting/carrying items that range from 10-50lbs, pushing/pulling items that range from 10-50lbs, twisting/turning including reaching over shoulder or above head, kneeling or squatting.
