General Description: Responsible for the execution of the personal risk new business placement strategy including developing and implementing marketing workflow, partner carrier strategy, and reporting on new business results.  This position will oversee the Regional Marketing / New business placement teams, holding them accountable to all guidelines while maintaining compliance with metrics for Technical Resources.  Regional Marketing is responsible for marketing/placement of new account opportunities with partner insurance carriers and for providing support to Personal Risk Specialists (producers) as the primary resource for negotiating carrier coverages and terms, presenting carrier quotes, and finalizing the placement/binding process.       

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Regional Leadership to meet goals of placing coverage with partner carriers
  • Implement marketing workflow for easier processing and reporting, documenting Best Practices
  • Work with IT on new business producer intake form and flow through processing with partner carriers
  • Monitor Marketing Specialists and Carrier dashboards to track, report and improve key performance metrics
  • Responsible for recruiting, training and development of Marketing Team
  • Coordinate with Personal Risk Leadership team to:
    • Report carrier placement results by region and national level
    • Monitor results of carrier submissions providing details on quote & bind ratios and premium/revenue volume
    • Monitor annual business plans in concert with the sales and operation leaders
    • Primary source of knowledge of appetite, market trends, pricing practices, contacts, and other underwriting policies
    • Schedule and actively participate in carrier meetings throughout year to monitor results
    • Manage communication with PR Field management on carrier results
  • Work closely with National and Regional Operations and Practice Leaders to ensure compliance with growth and profit objectives set by management.
  • Produce and monitor various monthly reports to ensure all initiatives are active and progress is identified.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Sets priorities and manages workflow to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate work
  • Informed regarding industry and new product information, legislation, coverages and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Personal Risk Property & Casualty; a comprehensive understanding of all Property & Casualty insurance coverages middle and High-Net Worth markets, placement, underwriting and rating concepts
  • Knowledge of agency management system, workflow procedures, underwriting, sales and service processes
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • College degree preferred and insurance designations (CIC, ARM, AAI, CPCU, CPRIA, CPRM) preferred
  • Must hold state Property & Casualty insurance license or willing to obtain one within an agreed upon timeframe
  • Requires flexibility with work schedule and travel required.  Will require multiple trips to regional offices and conducting live meetings and conference calls
  • Maintain a cordial and effective relationship with production team, co-workers, carriers, vendors, and other business contacts; ability to work in a team environment
  • Effective interactions/communications with others; cooperating purposefully and providing information, guidance, as needed, to achieve the business goals of USI

Physical Demands: Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment; limited to no exposure to chemicals and toxins. Employees operate office equipment; telephone – headset, computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, copier, scanner and mail machine. Physical tasks of job: walking, sitting, standing, bending, and fingering.

Analysis of Physical Demands:

  • Constantly (over 66% of time) work performed requires employees to use repetitive hand motions such as typing, using a keyboard, and sitting at a desk
  • Frequently (34% - 66% of time) work performed requires employees to handle and grasp things, walk on normal surfaces, stand, and bend
  • Occasionally (1% - 33% of time) work performed requires employees to drive to client appointments, have repetitive foot movements, walk on uneven or slippery surfaces to and from work, and occasionally reach outward to grab items, and bend
  • Rarely (<1 hour per week) work performed requires lifting/carrying items that range from 10 – 50 lbs., pushing/pulling items that range from 10 – 50 lbs., twisting/turning including reaching over shoulder or above head, kneeling or squatting
