General Description: 

Due to growth, we are hiring for an Executive & Professional Risk Solutions National Practice Advisor specifically with Transaction Liability (TL) expertise. They will be responsible for the development of transaction liability solutions for our prospects and clients actively involved with or contemplating mergers and acquisitions activity. Activities include evaluating the client or prospect’s TL risks, understanding the TL insurance marketplace, marketing and placing TL insurance solutions, handling client technical coverage questions and service requests, educating other USI associates on TL risk and assisting in the development of TL content and analytical tools.


  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of transaction liability marketplace and our team’s products and services
  • Provide technical support to Producers, specifically in analyzing client needs with Transaction Liability coverage forms and quotations
  • Work closely with USI producers, clients and producers to broker, place and service transaction liability policies.
  • Utilize effective negotiation skills / underwriter relationships to improve broking results to obtain optimal risk solutions for clients
  • Work with insurers to obtain coverage terms and indications
  • Summarize the terms obtained in written presentation form
  • Present terms to client/prospect (and often their counsel), clearly communicating the benefits and disadvantages of each option and providing a recommended path forward
  • Own the placement/brokerage process through final underwriting (managing all communications with the client, insurer(s) and USI team involved in the transaction)
  • Provide broking status and continuous proactive communication and service to clients/regional EPS/account team during entire broking process and entire period of engagement
  • Work with producers/account managers/local offices to provide correct invoicing details/instructions
  • Effectively utilize the EPS claims and legal advocacy group for claim administration and counsel to assist with claim resolution
  • Work with prospective clients and USI producers to explain the coverages, procurement process and USI capabilities, knowledge and expertise in this field
  • Develop TL COE/COI connections (law firms, underwriters, industry organizations)
  • Participate/lead in-house training for production staff, account managers and brokers to familiarize them with the product
  • Use data and analytics, own experience, other expert perspectives and a clear methodology to deliver optimal results to clients and create opportunities with prospective clients
  • Drive utilization of all available technology throughout broking and client service process
  • Replicate effective products/solutions and develop broking opportunities
  • Cross-sell EPS Solutions products and services
  • Assist producers in developing and executing on a pipeline strategy for new business
  • Act as a mentor to less experienced team members expressing interest in the TL products
  • Assist in the development of EPS analytical solutions
  • Assist in the continued development of expertise of other USI team members
  • Other projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 3-5+ years of M&A legal, insurance brokering, underwriting and/or claims experience.
  • Legal degree (JD) preferred, but not required.
  • Must hold /willing to obtain needed state Property & Casualty insurance license(s).
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal instruction and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Sets priorities and manages workflow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Keep informed regarding M&A/TL industry information, new product information, legislation, coverages and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance.
