General Description:

Responsible for development, presentation and periodic updates of training for insurance related training software, tools and industry concepts in support of the USI Employee Benefits team. Required to perform essential functions and meet service standards and Best Practices developed by USI.


  • Will function as part of a national team of Employee Benefits Trainers to meet the overall training objectives for the Employee Benefits Division
  • Develop and present various training documents and tools (e.g. user guides, recorded presentations, power point) in support of all Employee Benefits systems, procedures and general educational efforts.
  • Develop and facilitate annual training calendar for Employee Benefits Division to include regularly scheduled webinars.
  • Continually seeks new and creative ways to deliver quality hands on training to all Benefits employees as well as recommending various methods to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Present training on appropriate webinars.
  • Facilitate and communicate with subject matter experts (SME) for areas of training where required to produce the assigned tools, documents and webinars.
  • Communicate with SME and Managers to develop Train-the-Trainer processes.
  • Participate on Employee Benefit project teams and user groups as determined by manager in support of needed training efforts.
  • Maintain updated training materials on the USI Intranet for employee reference.
  • Present training at a regional, operating company or acquisition level as assigned by manager -- (some travel will be required).
  • Participate in regular National EB Trainer meetings and conference calls.
  • Prepare/maintain regular project status tracking and updates integrated with national training team reporting.
  • Expected to further industry knowledge through courses with intent to pursue an industry designation. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have proven experience with creating dynamic training content, including but not limited to user guides, job aides, presentations, and recordings
  • Must be proficient with computers and quickly competent with new technology tools. Specifically, must have full competence with MS Office Suite products and Adobe products.
  • Experience with Vertafore product suite preferred but not required (Benefit Point/ImageRight.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Employee Benefits preferred.
  • College Degree.
  • Must portray strong trainer leadership skills -- addressing the audience, describing nature of training, goals, step by step instructions and recap.
  • Ability to effectively initiate training and set up training function.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with others to explain complex issues, receives and interprets complex information, and responds appropriately.
  • Ability to understand written and oral communication and interpret abstract information.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.
  • Must be comfortable with internet-based programs as well as intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office products. Knowledge of BenefitPoint//ImageRight preferred, but not required.
  • Keeps informed regarding industry information, new product information and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal instruction and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Sets priorities and manages workflow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate production of tools and materials.
  • Able to quickly assess and learn organizational roles, responsibilities and process flows.
  • Maintain an effective relationship with internal clients, team members and vendors.
  • Interact with others effectively by utilizing good communication skills, cooperating purposefully and providing information and guidance, as needed, to achieve the business goals of the company.
