General Description: 

Responsible for the development, execution and oversite of the Employee Benefits Career Track program, including facilitation of the growth and development of the program participants.  Ensure the program is running effectively.


The Career Development Manager performs a wide range of duties including some or all the following as it relates to planning, managing, implementing, monitoring & evaluating the program:

  • 2-year cycle of this newly created program.
  • Set and accomplish goals to develop and implement program.
  • Develop detailed training curriculum life cycle including expectations, specific career development goals, learning objectives, developmental checkpoints, knowledge testing, observation, evaluation and coaching.
  • Establish required recruitment pool annually, taking program expansion into consideration.
  • Participate in interview process, as required.

  • Role includes performance as mentor/leader & trainer/coach.
  • Produce written training and resource materials.
  • Establish Intranet site for all facets of the program.
  • Provide constructive, ongoing feedback to participants for personal and professional development. Evaluate participants’ job readiness through developmental checkpoints including, but not limited to, testing, one on one performance sessions, group discussions and auditing.
  • Implement Mentorship Program.
  • Continuous evaluation of effectiveness and efficiency of the learning program and improvement as necessary.
  • Report on progress and results, including measurement of learning from a return on investment (ROI) prospective.
  • Expand or broaden program as requested by USI leadership.
  • All other projects assigned by the National Director of EB Operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 10 years’ experience in the insurance industry.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of learning and development methods related to career planning.
  • Familiarity with e-learning platforms and practices.
  • Comfortable with internet-based programs and Microsoft Office products.
  • Manage complexity, prioritize tasks and execute.
  • Adhere to high professional standards and integrity.
  • Strong organizational skills.
