Use Your Professional Liability Underwriting Management Expertise to Build/Retain Prestigious Professional Liability Business!

Manage a team of professional liability underwriting staff members and provide professional liability underwriting subject matter expertise to ensure best business practice underwriting processes.  This role, located in our Matawan, NJ office,  will drive underwriting execution that will ensure timely processing; quoting and issuance of profitable new business and account retention of our prestigious Lawyers’ Professional Liability program.

You will provide technical guidance to ensure underwriting performance and service goals are met as well as compliance with underwriting processes, guidelines and standards. You will work closely with our sales team regarding underwriting issues and act as the liaison in solving processing and other issues involving sales and policy services depts. as well as carriers. Using your underwriting knowledge and strong negotiation skills you will work closely with the carriers with escalating policies outside company underwriting authority level to negotiate premium.

 The right candidate will have:

  • A High School Degree or GED (Bachelor's Degree is preferred);

  • Expert knowledge of Professional Liability/E&O Underwriting (estimated 7+ years’ experience) is required. Lawyers' Professional Liability Marketplace experience is strongly preferred.

  • Experience successfully managing an underwriting team; implementing best underwriting practices/procedures, managing by metrics and negotiating with carriers is required.

  • Experience with Program Insurance (helpful).

  • CPCU or other professional insurance designation (helpful).

  • Active P&C License (or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment)

  In addition, you must have:

  • Demonstrated depth in negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships as well as the ability to deal effectively with difficult or sensitive situations.

  • Ability to effectively manage high volume environment and effectively manage own workload while exhibiting very sound judgment;

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently, part of a team and leadership abilities
