General Description: 

The EPS Staff Consultant works to develop technical expertise in managing and retaining assigned clients’ retirement plan business.  The Staff Consultant provides exceptional customer service and works effectively with internal teams/resources (i.e. Consultants, Relationship Managers, Legal, etc.) and external vendors (i.e. Voya, MassMutual, John Hancock) to maintain a successful relationship with clients and to provide overall recordkeeping and consulting services for basic retirement plans, including, but not limited to:


·         Responsible for all aspects of recordkeeping for client plans to ensure accurate processing in accordance with department service standards/deadlines and plan documents, including:

·         Assist Sr. Consultants with plan recordkeeping tasks

·         Process distribution and loan requests

·         Review recordkeeper reports with clients (such as loan default reports)

·         Provide participant fee disclosure mailing reminders to clients

·         Ensure compliance with plan document & IRS/DOL regulations

·         Maintain accurate and timely recording of transactions and work logs

·         Correspond with Clients, Managers, Consultants, Team Leaders & Relationship Managers in response to issues, including preparation of forms and participation in team meetings, researching basic questions and plan document provisions, assisting with billing questions, confirming transactions, etc.  Obtain guidance from Team Leader or experienced consultants as needed to respond to client inquiries and develop consulting skills. 

·         Maintain day-to-day client contact for inquiries on assigned plans. Respond to all client or participant calls/emails within four business hours. 

·         Develop basic understanding of EPS compliance requirements and deliverables.  Obtain guidance from Team Leader or experienced consultants as needed to fulfill compliance responsibilities. Coordinate with Sr. Consultants regarding preparation of IRS Form 5500/SAR, audit packages, MRDs, projected/final compliance tests, etc. for assigned plans, including:

·         Gather, track and reconcile required data and provide to experienced consultant in a timely manner.

·         Manage deadlines and complete assigned portions of checklists.

·         Communicate with clients/auditors as necessary to respond to questions or requests for information.

·         Review results, develop corrective actions, and present results/reports to clients.

·         As experience grows, learn full IRS Form 5500/SAR preparation & compliance testing.

·         Prepare and send out IRS Form 5558 where applicable.

·         Identify projects requiring additional billing and report them monthly on Special Billings Projects worksheets.

·         As experience grows, assist with training newer employees on basic EPS department procedures, systems and job functionality.

·         Complete special projects as requested by clients or EPS department.

·         With direction from a Manager, Relationship Manager, or Consultant, assist with transition of new business.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Business, Finance or Accounting preferred

·         1-2 years business experience preferred

·         Strong computer skills. Knowledge of Windows environment, including Word & Excel

·         Detailed and organized.  Able to multi-task

·         Good communication and interpersonal skills
