The Role:

The Stop Loss Team Lead oversees all regional marketing and placement activities related to stop loss coverage. In this role, you will drive operational excellence in stop loss marketing, analytics, and financial tracking, while championing USI’s Stop Loss Consortium strategy. You’ll work closely with national and regional employee benefit (EB) practice leaders and operational teams to enhance service delivery and strengthen our value proposition.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and manage the regional Stop Loss Practice, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and service standards.
  • Define, implement, and maintain efficient work processes for marketing, placing, and servicing clients’ stop loss coverage.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex stop loss carrier service issues related to marketing strategy, claims and reimbursement management, carrier advocacy, and data analytics and reporting.
  • Collaborate with regional technical teams such as Analysts, Sales Underwriters, and Ancillary Marketing resources.
  • Educate leaders, producers, account management, and tech resources on the consortium panel carrier strategy and related processes.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on stop loss products for sales executives, account management, analysts, and sales underwriters.
  • Promote and use internal tools, systems, and technologies to monitor and track all stop loss new business and renewal activity.
  • Define, document, and implement stop loss marketing best practices in collaboration with regional leadership.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive stop loss training program for analysts.
  • Build a team of stop loss subject matter experts.
  • Partner with leadership to identify, develop, and execute strategic initiatives through effective project management and coordination of resources.
  • Support vendor management efforts by fostering carrier collaboration, participating in panel carrier evaluation and development, and maintaining excellent carrier relationships.
  • Monitor and report on key metrics, such as new business and renewal activity, carrier movement and volume trends, and bonus qualification levels by carrier, including total premium dollars, new business growth, and persistency.
  • Stay current on industry information, technology, and trends.

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Employee Benefit Brokerage Practices; prior experience in sales or operations with a stop loss carrier preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • Solid understanding of broker compensation structures for stop loss and ancillary carriers.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including leadership, sales, account management, and tech resources.
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain a Life & Disability insurance license.
  • Familiarity with benefit products, services, competitive offerings, market needs, and industry trends.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of internet-based programs and Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel. Knowledge of BenefitPoint is a plus.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply benefit-related facts and figures.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in systems, procedures, processes, and policies.
  • Willingness to travel 20% or more.
