Apply nowGeneral Description: Consultative account management partner for small employee benefits accounts. Activities include marketing, compliance education, strategic planning, plan implementation, and carrier issue resolution. Serve as day-to-day contact for larger, more complex small business clients.
Responsibilities:
Provide proactive, consultative support to a book of assigned clients. Lead all meetings and interactions with clients.
Evaluate Select product offerings and/or alternative funding programs for clients. As appropriate, guide clients through the transfer from fully insured to alternative funding benefit plan designs. Includes educating clients on underwriting and compliance requirements.
Interpret clients’ current coverage plans, identify gaps, and recommend opportunities to expand lines of coverage. Provide insurance technical expertise to clients.
Educate, advise, and aid clients on all compliance topics. Includes alternative funding requirements, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s and Health Care Reform.
Act as primary contact between clients and insurance carriers. Respond to requests for information, documents, and employee benefits insurance inquiries.
Accountable for marketing and placement of client insurance renewals and new business. Includes:
Evaluating plan options via quoting systems, general agents, and direct carrier engagement.
Negotiate with carriers on renewal rate increases and prepare appropriate contractual changes.
Provide insurance plan options and recommendations to clients.
Communicate final placement details to insurers, clients, and participants.
Develop employee communications for renewal changes, enrollment procedures, benefit changes and/or clarifications.
Introduce clients to USI Benefit Resource Center for resolution support. Includes assistance with claims issues and benefit plan/policy questions.
Provide oversight and assistance with employee issues such as enrollment and billing issues.
Introduce clients to USI value-add services where appropriate.
Maintain a high degree of accuracy in agency management and document management systems.
Ensure client deliverable standards are met. Participate in peer review with team members.
Keep current with industry information, technology, and trends.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
4 years + experience in employee benefits industry or related marketplace.
College degree preferred.
Customer service experience preferred.
Must hold or be willing to earn a Life & Disability insurance license.
Comfortable with internet-based programs and Microsoft Office products.
Ability to set priorities and manage deadlines.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with minimal instruction.
Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Ability to define problems and generate potential solutions.

Salary Range: $60,000- $75,000. This is a bonus eligible position with a target incentive of 5%.
