General Description: The EB Operations Manager is a key member of the EB Leadership Team reporting to the Practice Leader. The position will oversee all client services functions, excluding production. The Operations Manager will partner with the Practice Leader to lead and take charge of the onboarding and retention process for new and existing clients.


  • Manage, train and coach all client facing staff on value proposition, stewardship process and proactive account management services to ensure client retention, and effective renewal and marketing processes.
  • Develop and implement consistent process and procedures related to customer service platform and systems
  • Manage a team to handle a book of business comprised of complex clients who are located both locally and nationally, and have various funding methods, advanced contract features and structure that requires a higher level of experience and technical expertise.

·        Drive strategic customer service initiatives and implement process and efficiencies   in the non-productions staff

·        Partner with the Practice Leader to ensure non-productions staff understand the production messaging and delivery of the USI value proposition in the marketplace

·        Responsibilities to include integration of resources at the OpCo level

·        Partner with the Practice Leader to understand and maintain the OpCo budget and appropriate staffing levels

  • Act as Strategic Resource Advisor for largest/most important accounts, coordinating as necessary with Practice Leader, Underwriting, Compliance and other resources.
  • Meet and exceed EB retention goal of 92% year over year.
  • Manage recruiting and hiring process of new Account Managers to ensure consistent delivery of resources on all accounts greater than $10k.
  • Drive consistent and predictable long term profitable client relationships.
  • Manage assignment of clients based on size and needs via Enterprise and Advisory segmentation.
  • Work with Practice Leader in development and refinement of Value Propositions.
  • Monitor quality and sufficiency of staff’s work, delivering high quality clients services, while maximizing revenue and cross selling opportunities.
  • Responsible for developing advice and analysis for clients in response to industry trends, market events and legislative rulings.
  • Coordinate internal resources/ experts to assist all producers on sales opportunities.
  • Understand and communicate USI’s Employee Benefit initiatives to staff.
  • Positively and proactively represent USI in meetings, seminars, trade shows and networking events.
  • Assist in developing positive carrier relationships.
  • Drive utilization and keep current all protocols as relates to Sagitta and BenefitPoint.
  • Create a positive communication and leadership team with the AE Team leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·        10+ years of related insurance experience in a client interfacing role

·        Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred

·        Resourceful, persuasive and effective leader when dealing with clients, producers, and direct reports.

·        Familiar with products, services, competitive offerings, market needs and industry trends.

·        Able to understand, interpret and convey technical information to others.

·        Strong analytical skills and be capable of using and interpreting benefits related facts and figures.

·        Broad understanding of general accounting practices.

·        Ability to adapt quickly to changes in systems, procedures, processes and policies.

·        Strong leadership and managerial skills.

·        Excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills.

·        Demonstrate cooperation and collaboration in team settings.

·        Effective interpersonal, problem solving and conflict resolution skills along with sound judgment.

·        Excellent oral and written communication skills.

·        Personable, credible and tactful.

·        Demonstrate knowledge and use of information systems and databases.

·        Skilled in office technology applications, including MS Office products and ideally Benefitpoint.

·        Active life & health insurance license
