General Description: Individual is responsible for driving operational best practices and fundamental process improvement across our Advisory Employee Benefits and Enterprise Employee Benefits insurance operations in conjunction with the efforts of the EB National Director of Operations. In this role, individual will work with national and regional EB practice and operational leaders and resources to drive USI Employee Benefits services and value propositions enterprise wide.


  • Build a Standard Service Platform: Document and lead ongoing transition to standard best practice service model in all regions that includes clearly defined client service roles, standard deliverables and account segmentation.
  • Coordinate Technical Resources: Coordinate with regional technical resources including regional analytics hubs, compliance, wellness and communications.
  • Leverage Technology and Tools: Develop best practices for leveraging standard technology platform and tools such as Benefitpoint, Verisk and Zywave.
  • Develop Regional EB Operations Leaders: Partner with senior executives to assess and develop regional EB operations leaders and recruit and on-board new hires.
  • Manage Staff Training Program: Manage Employee Benefits training program for account managers and technical resources.
  • Strategic Team Development: Hands on assistance with EB teams and offices undergoing significant operational changes including acquisitions and major staffing challenges;
  • Build the EB Community: Build community of EB leaders and staff with annual employee benefits operations leader meeting, regular calls with EB leaders, periodic newsletters and communication material to all Employee Benefits leaders and staff
  • Develop New Initiatives: Work with National EB Practice Leader and Regional EB Operation Leaders to identify, develop and execute national initiatives through project management and coordination of resources. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 12-15 years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility in Employee Benefit Brokerage Practices
  • BA/BS preferred; MBA a plus; Six Sigma and Project Management process skills desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes; history of effective project management and efficiency creation required
  • Resourceful, persuasive and effective leader able to successfully navigate in "matrixed" organization;
  • Personable, credible and tactful.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and to meet deadlines under pressure; excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Exceptionally strong quantitative & analytical ability, communication skills (written & verbal), and work-ethic
  • Familiar with products, services, competitive offerings, market needs and industry trends.
  • Able to understand, interpret and convey technical information to others.
  • Strong analytical skills and capable of using and interpreting benefits related facts and figures.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in systems, procedures, processes and policies.
  • Effective interpersonal, problem solving and conflict resolution skills along with sound judgment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and use of information systems and databases; skilled in office technology applications, including MS Office products and employee benefit agency managements systems (ideally Benefitpoint).
