General Description: 

The Actuary will be responsible for the workflow and production of actuarial services for USICG’s clients. This position will work extensively with other Enrolled Actuaries, Consultants and Analysts in fulfilling work priorities and assignments as well as being the primary service contact for a group of clients.  


·         Overall responsible for delivery of core actuarial services and consulting for assigned clients.

·         Responsible for timely preparation of invoices for assigned clients.

·         Responsible for assisting the Managing Actuary with interviewing, training, development and retention levels of all actuarial team members.

·         Work with the Managing Actuary in supporting the Practice Leader with budget goals and revenue analysis.

·         Establish “Best Practices” with regard to services and processes for the DB/Actuarial Service business.

·         Work with the Actuarial Managers in establishing client priorities.  Support the Actuarial Consultants in meeting established deadlines.

·         Responsible to ensure actuarial services are delivered to meet internal standards and client requirements for quality and timeliness for all assigned clients.

·         Provide peer review of work products to ensure the quality of core actuarial and consulting assignments.

·         Provide departmental training on actuarial principles in identified ‘areas of expertise’.  Participate in practice-wide committees that support the developmental requirements of our services.

·         Consult with clients with regard to the financial and operational performance of their plans. Recommend improvements or alternatives when appropriate.

·         Serve as primary contact in establishing/maintaining relationships regarding defined benefit matters with clients at the senior management level.

·         Responsible for identifying cross-selling opportunities for USICG within assigned client base.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Attainment of Enrolled Actuary designation.

·         Attainment of FSA or ASA designation is preferred.

·         8 or more years of actuarial experience.

·         Expert knowledge of actuarial principals and pension funding requirements.

·         Working knowledge of FASB/GASB disclosure requirements preferred.

·         Ability to effectively learn and use actuarial valuation software (ProVal knowledge preferred).

·         Experienced in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

·         Strong achievement orientation.
