Compensation Consultant Summary:

The Compensation Consultant will work with Senior Consultants to support clients in project management and delivering work, primarily in the Compensation Practice. The candidate may have the opportunity to work on cross-functional projects incorporating other practices from other areas of the firm. The role begins as a project team member and the right candidate will grow quickly into a team lead. This position could be the first step in a long, fulfilling career that offers leadership opportunities.

Compensation Consultant Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and ensure effectiveness of client compensation programs, and assist to develop appropriate models, design pay levels and annual incentive pay programs, and prepare client deliverables
  • Utilize compensation surveys to establish appropriate market benchmarks, and manipulate data using spreadsheets and databases to assess pay scales, base pay and incentives
  • Evaluate compensation practices of client through financial modeling, recommending improvements to compensation packages
  • Work in partnership with clients and the Compensation Practice to develop business-aligned short-term incentive, commission and bonus plans
  • Participate in calls and meeting with clients and prospective clients
  • Prepare client deliverables, including presentations and reports
  • Research national wage statistics and current trends in compensation
  • Assist in project management by overseeing project planning, tracking project activities and monitoring progress
  • Develop knowledge and skills in various areas of human resources consulting

Compensation Consultant Specific/Individual Core Competencies:

  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proficiency in business technology tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively in both a team setting and independent environment

Compensation Consultant Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree with preference for accounting, finance or related field
  • Two or more years of experience in financial related experience, ideally in tax or accounting field
  • Experience with compensation and benefit plans preferred but not required
