The role of the Commercial Lines Programs Insurance Advisor is to meet and exceed revenue target goals by actively soliciting and selling assigned proprietary commercial lines insurance products in person and by phone.  This position will work within a sales team to support new competitive product development throughout the Northeast / Midatlantic Regions, or Nationwide.  Available locations include, Newtown Square, PA; Blue Bell, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Matawan, NJ; West Orange, NJ; White Plains, NY and Falls Church, VA.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

       Achieve new business sales goals on an annualized basis based on our target market of companies/firms.  Booked new business revenue of $100K per year.

       Demonstrate technical knowledge necessary to communicate our solutions effectively to a noninsurance buyer.

       The Commercial Lines Programs Insurance Advisor will be required to meet with external centers of influence to prospect, engage and ultimately serve as a value-added service that is provided to the clients of the center of influence.

       Facilitate networking sessions with law firms and other respective associations to build COIs, identify additional prospects and address continued industry risks, concerns and unique insurance market needs/ requirements while providing consultative expertise and advice of tailored insurance solutions to meeting customer/ prospect needs.

       Maintain prospect pipeline of known policy expiration dates (X-dates) and develop new prospects through face to face to meetings, developing external centers of influence, and phone prospecting.

       Prepare for, meet and actively lead sales actively in the Get, Prep, and Close meetings for all first appointments and close presentations,

       Programs Sales Producer will be required to meet with external centers of influence to prospect, engage and ultimately serve as a value-added service that is provided to the clients of the center of influence.

       Systematically use CRM to support sales processes, including input of accurate and timely information relative to first appointments, follow-up appointments, conceptual/finalist meetings, etc., to facilitate realistic corporate sales and revenue projections.

       Establish and maintain good relationships with existing clients, for the purpose of cross- selling additional lines of business.

       Complete and submit sales and production reports to management as requested.

       Attend weekly sales meetings, engagement day and customer/association events as required.

       Successfully develop and deploy sales and marketing strategies along with periodic communications to optimize USI’s position in the marketplace.

       Positively and proactively represent USI in meetings, seminars, trade shows and networking events.

       Demonstrate the ability to identify and overcome sales obstacles on a prospect-specific basis.

       Become a subject matter expert in identified business solutions.

       Demonstrate proficiency in the discovery process (sales due diligence) and promoting USI’s competitive differentiation, including mastering the use of USI’s presentation templates and supporting OMNI output and sample work product pages.

       Demonstrate the technical knowledge necessary to communicate our solutions effectively to a non-insurance buyer.

       Complete special projects assigned by management.

       Create positive synergies and build strong working relationships and win confidence of the local Select, PRS, Commercial Lines and Employee Benefits production staff.

       Ability to travel more than 50% of the time to meet with identified COIs, networks, associations, prospects and clients.


QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3-5 years of experience in insurance brokerage, carrier, or related business to business sales experience, including calling on senior executives and a track record of financial success.
  • An active Property/Casualty license is preferred or the ability to obtain one within 60 days.   
  • Proven ability to perform in a sales-focused, results- oriented environment working with a strong team is preferred.  

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

In order to perform this job successfully, an individual:

  • Must have or develop strong knowledge of USI Programs’ product line and related insurance concepts.
  • Must have strong customer service and sales orientation.
  • Must have strong client facing skills

·      Ability to travel 50% or more of the time and meet with clients (within 150 mile radius of assigned location.

  • Must be able to develop and maintain strong business relationships as well as the ability to deal effectively with difficult or sensitive situations.
  • Must be able to consistently meet or exceeds sales/revenue targets as established by the company.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent time management skills. 
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have strong verbal communication skills.

Certificates and Licenses –Active P&C license is required or the ability to obtain license within 60 days of employment.
