General Description:

Acts as DCC Department liaison to clients. The CG Retirement Plans Consultant/Account Manager consults with clients on complex issues such as plan design, compliance, service enhancements and product developments from service providers, special projects, fees, etc. He/she is responsible for the overall relationship management with the main focus on client satisfaction and retention. Primary executive-level contact who will provide clients' management teams with industry-level overview, trends, etc. while exploring cross-sell opportunities for USI.



  • Successfully manage and retain assigned book of business that is located both locally and nationally
  • Interact as the liaison between the service provider and the client
  • Measure service quality and ensure that we meet client deliverables as outlined in our services agreement
  • Coordinate delivery of periodic plan Investment Reviews
  • Work with account coordinators to implement any investment fund changes requested by clients
  • Schedule meetings with clients and service providers to conduct plan review and investment reviews and establish action plans for the year
  • Preparation of materials needed for client meetings including but not limited to agendas, reports, calendars, etc., as well as taking meeting notes
  • Educate and aid clients on all compliance topics related to ERISA and IRS Code
  • Remind clients of due dates pertaining to the administration of their plans
  • Work with service provider to coordinate employee education campaigns to promote plan participation, etc.
  • Understand pricing, deliver and explain fee benchmarking reports to clients
  • Understand RFP process and value proposition and be prepared to deliver and explain the results
  • DCC Department liaison to the legal department to coordinate guidance on specific issues that clients request, corrective actions, or other legal related projects.
  • Understand documents and restatements, amendments, summary plan descriptions, IRS non discrimination tests and minimum coverage tests, Form 5500, service contracts, etc.
  • Support sales efforts by participating in finalists presentations
  • DCC Department liaison to other departments, including Health & Welfare, Defined Benefit, Accounting, Communications, Marketing, IAS to service clients and identify cross-sell opportunities
  • Build and maintain a positive team spirit
  • Assume the lead role in the establishment of new client relationships and new business implementation for retirement plans, including:
    • Conversion of assigned new business by actively participating in transition meetings or conference calls with the service providers and clients
      • Provide consulting for plan design changes
      • Review service provider's contracts to verify that the fees and services match what was proposed in the RFP process
      • Monitor the progress of the service providers to ensure timely completion of all deliverables
    • Coordinate timely preparation and execution of required plan documentation for all parties, including USICG, USI Securities, USI Investment Advisors
    • Gather and review service provider's plan documents, contracts, other pertinent documents related to the plan
    • Establish proper client expectations and adjust with client as required
  • Deliver revised services agreements when needed
  • Follow internal processes
  • May work as an Account Coordinator on some cases
  • Mentor DCC new hires at all levels, individually or in group setting, sharing company and industry expertise with team members; participate in development and delivery of internal training sessions; provide constructive feedback to DCC Senior Management concerning new hires' progress
  • Manage client-related travel to control and accurately report expenses and effectively utilize company resources in accordance with company policy
  • Complete special projects as requested by the DC department including service enhancement initiatives, creation of client materials, periodic re-engineering of internal processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory changes, etc., including participation in applicable committees and communication to staff and/or clients as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Business, Finance or Accounting preferred but not required
  • Advanced computer skills-knowledge of Windows environment, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • 5-7 years minimum related business experience, demonstrating recordkeeping and compliance expertise
  • ASPPA certification preferred
  • Compliance skills and plan design skills
  • Ability to creatively and proactively problem-solve, adhering to all regulatory requirements
  • Ability to stay organized and focused in a busy environment
  • Effective communication skills with clients and co-workers, both verbal and written
  • Personable and credible
  • Demonstrates cooperation and collaboration in a team setting
