General description: Works with business units to identify and facilitate work business process modeling and liaises with vendor and I.T. Department to ensure processes are properly incorporated into systems. Completes business cases and ensures process documents are created in support of the projects. Maintains and updates workflows, training material and standard operating procedures.  Demonstrates skill in explaining the technical complexities of various software programs used to employees in clear and understandable terms when training.  This position requires knowledge of retail and/or surplus lines insurance and office automation applications.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Works closely with USI business units to identify and document core business processes for the implementation of new policy administration system.
  • Spends time with customer ( USI business units and users of the system) to understand their perspectives and needs including learning key USI Affinity operation functions including underwriting, accounting , policy servicing and retention to support processes and standardization.
  • Learns workflow configuration for the new policy administration system and acts as an implementer of the new processes or updates to the already developed processes.
  • Identifies key issues and risks in the business processes to ensure effective workflows and system implementation.
  • Liaises between IT and business units to:
    • Provide system/process requirement to IT ;
    • Participate in user acceptance testing process to ensure accuracy of implementation;
    • Act as a single point of contact for the any queries from IT.
  • Develops and maintains training material for the new policy administration system to ensure system requirements are accurate, up-to-date and effective.
  • Facilitates trains and assists staff and other stakeholders in implementation of the new policy administration system.
  • Supports business operations and troubleshoots issues once new policy administration system is in production.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree with estimated 5 years of experience in a business operations role managing and implementing workflow and procedures.
  • Business operations experience in a commercial insurance environment is highly preferred including knowledge of insurance accounting, underwriting, billing and policy services..

Language Ability -- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Math Ability -- Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability -- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical

COMPUTER SKILLS --To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS -  Property & Casualty license preferred

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Requires excellent communications, analytical, facilitation and negotiations skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to extensively analyze business processes and workflows.
  • High level of competences with MS office and MS Excel.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Business Objects and Business Process Modeling tools is preferred.

Travel - Approximately 10-20%
