General Description: 

The Broker Quote Specialist manages a book of brokers and their business as assigned by the Operations Manager. This individual is responsible for supporting the marketing proposal needs of the ancillary team. Marketing needs will include responding to carrier and/or broker specific questions, ensuring new business and renewals.  This also includes acting as a liaison between the insurance carrier and the broker. Much of the person’s time will be spent supporting the broker-ERC relationship, training brokers and performing rate/renewal analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing proposals and creating spreadsheets for broker marketing needs to best support and determine the best coverage solution options for broker’s client base.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and vendors through contact as needed.
  • Resolve day-to-day inquires and request for support.
  • Provide follow-up communication and approvals for Brokers on plan changes.
  • Work with Account Executives, Broker Consultants and Brokers in quoting renewal alternatives and new business.
  • Work with Account Executives and vendors to negotiate rates, secure new business and maintain existing business.
  • Process requests of clients and brokers as needed.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities for other lines of coverage
  • Update client database on an ongoing basis. Create and maintain case files that include all critical client information based on implemented workflows.
  • Communicate regularly with management and other staff members regarding all aspects of administration to ensure service excellence.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with brokers, vendors and internal staff.
  • Strive to stay up-to-date with insurance regulations, carrier plan options, underwriting rules and other value added programs offered by ERC to the Brokers.
  • Special projects as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Excel required. Specifically, excel formulas and ability to manipulate spreadsheets.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office products required.
  • Ability to creatively and proactively problem-solve.
  • Ability to stay organized and focused in a busy environment.
  • Effective communication skills when dealing with co-workers, brokers and carriers.
  • Professional and dependable.
  • Demonstrates cooperation and collaboration in a team setting.
  • Three + years of experience working in a group health insurance setting preferable.
  • Familiarity with products, services, competitive offerings, market needs and industry trends and claim procedures.
  • Basic understanding of alternate funding arrangements including full and partially insured, minimum premium, self-insured, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Accident & Health license is required or ability to obtain within three months from date of hire.

Physical Demands:

 Work is performed in a climate controlled office environment with minimal noise and limited to no exposure to chemicals or toxins.  Employees operate office equipment including; telephone - headset, Computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, copier, scanner and mail machine.  Physical tasks of job include; walking, sitting, standing, bending and typing.

Analysis of Physical Demands:

  • Constantly (over 66% of time) work performed requires employees to use repetitive hand motions such as typing, using a keyboard, and sitting at a desk.
  • Frequently (34%-66% of time) work performed requires employees to drive to client appointments, handle and grasp things, walk on normal surfaces, stand and bend.
  • Occasionally (1%-33% of time) work performed requires employees have repetitive foot movements, walk on uneven or slippery surfaces to and from work and occasionally reach outward to grab things and bend.
  • Rarely  (< than 1 hour per week) work performed  requires Lifting/Carrying  items that range from 10-50lbs, pushing/pulling  items that range from 10-50lbs,  twisting/ turning including reaching over shoulder or above head , kneeling or squatting.
