Assess Lawyers Professional Liability risks of a complex nature, develop and negotiate premium and manage relationships with producers, brokers and carriers in order to provide the appropriate insurance product to clients and generate profit in accordance with company goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Analyze risk through the evaluation of application, website, claims history, file notes, etc. to determine the appropriate market, coverage, limits and premium that can be offered to an applicant for insurance in accordance with company initiatives.
- Determine the applicable endorsements and apply rating, including credits and debits, to ensure safe profitable distribution of risks while remaining competitive in offerings.
- Issue quotations for proposed insurance policies.
- Decline excessive risks.
- Communicate with others to gather information and explain company underwriting policies.
- Review company records to ensure file and data integrity.
- Follow up with producers to obtain quality new business.
- Manage relationships with producers to provide responsive assistance, develop a profitable flow of submissions, enhance retention and gather feedback on the marketplace.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Degree or G.E.D. is required, college degree is preferred
- 3+ years of professional liability underwriting experience is required (lawyers professional liability experience is helpful).
- P&C license required.
Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Math Ability: Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Must have the ability to utilize computer programs and understand functionality including working knowledge and experience of MS Office products including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Adequate knowledge of rating procedures, coverage's and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain and write assigned client and prospect lists.
- Knowledge of insurance rating and underwriting procedures.
- Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.
