Working in the firm’s Actuarial Practice, with a strong focus on maintaining and building client relationships and providing high quality service by using technical expertise in specialized areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage meaningful client relationships and expectations. Develop a thorough understanding of the plan document specifics and proactively anticipate client needs, serving as point person between all parties on plan related matters
- Ability to check and review non-discrimination testing, including 401(a)(4), 401(a)(26), 410(b), 415, 416
- Ability to promote and appropriately study creation of new defined benefit plans, including traditional cash balance, market-based cash balance, and variable plans
- Analysis of law changes for impact to client plans
- Plan and coordinate client project work and ensure services are delivered on a timely basis and within budget
- Check and coordinate completion of all required IRS and PBGC filings
- Participate in presentations and meetings with clients to proactively address arising issues and market changes
- Meet other professionals and develop a network of connections
- Work firm across practice areas and client geographic areas (all US), limited travel expected
- Advise and mentor junior staff and interns with occasional training
- Contribute to Firm and Practice profitability by meeting or exceeding assigned realization/utilization goals
Specific/Individual Core Competencies:
- Experience in pension ERISA actuarial valuations, a focus on single-employer plans
- Experience with non-discrimination testing of smaller defined benefit (primarily cash balance) and defined contribution plans, as well as experience with ASC software, are a plus
- Proficient in use of valuation software and programming pension provisions
- Detail-oriented with strong organization and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while also exhibiting a strong team approach to managing and developing relationships
- Willingness to put in extra effort to exceed client expectations
Education:
- BA/BS degree from accredited college or university
- Enrolled Actuary, additional credentials or memberships a plus
- Familiarity with ProVal and/or ASC is a plus
