General Description: This position is responsible for independently managing the administrative intake process and assisting with marketing/placement of new account opportunities. Responsible for providing support to New/Validating Commercial producers and assisting in collecting data, program review/structure, submission creation, placement advisory and carrier negotiations (including finalizing the placement, proposal, system setup and binding process.)                


    • Responsible for establishing/maintaining a relationship with the new production team; obtaining pertinent information via the producer and prospect to support winning the business
    • Enters complete and accurate documentation in agency management systems (including Sagitta and ImageRight), marketing file of each account handled (including account set up)
    • quote online via carrier rating tools, or submit to underwriter, only on non-complex new business
    • Partner with Technical Resources including Analytics and Placement Specialist for complex accounts
    • Coordinate the submission data gathering from producer
    • Coordinate proposal preparation including completion of marketing summary outlining terms, rates, commission, bind order documents, and carrier responses including reason for declination
    • Required to perform essential functions; meeting service standards and best practices developed by USI
    • Accounts are handed off to assigned Account Management team after account is won/placed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Commercial Property & Casualty; a comprehensive understanding of all Property & Casualty insurance coverages, placement, underwriting and rating concepts
  • College degree preferred and insurance designations (CIC, ARM, AAI, CPCU) preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal instruction, strong business acumen, and a high degree of frequency
  • Sales driven and solution oriented to help meet production and growth goals
  • Ability to creatively and proactively problem solve and negotiate
  • Sets priorities and manages workflow to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate work
  • Informed regarding industry and new product information, legislation, coverages and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance
  • Knowledge of agency management system, workflow procedures, underwriting, sales and service processes
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • College degree preferred
  • Must hold state Property & Casualty insurance license or willing to obtain one within an agreed upon timeframe
  • Maintain a cordial and effective relationship with production team, co-workers, carriers, vendors, and other business contacts; ability to work in a team environment
  • Effective interactions/communications with others; cooperating purposefully and providing information, guidance, as needed, to achieve the business goals of USI

Physical Demands: Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment; limited to no exposure to chemicals and toxins. Employees operate office equipment; telephone – headset, computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, copier, scanner and mail machine. Physical tasks of job: walking, sitting, standing, bending, and typing.

Analysis of Physical Demands:

    • Constantly (over 66% of time) work performed requires employees to use repetitive hand motions such as typing, using a keyboard, and sitting at a desk
    • Frequently (34% - 66% of time) work performed requires employees to handle and grasp things, walk on normal surfaces, stand, and bend
    • Occasionally (1% - 33% of time) work performed requires employees to drive to client appointments, have repetitive foot movements, walk on uneven or slippery surfaces to and from work, and occasionally reach outward to grab items, and bend
    • Rarely (<1 hour per week) work performed requires lifting/carrying items that range from 10 – 50 lbs., pushing/pulling items that range from 10 – 50 lbs., twisting/turning including reaching over shoulder or above head, kneeling or squatting
