National M&A Sales Team Director

 The Director, M&A Corporate Business Development is responsible for managing a National team of M&A Business Development Analysts in specific regions across the US and will report to the Valhalla NY Corporate office. The director will be part of the national acquisition team and will represent findings, and present suggestions for future acquisitions to Corporate and regional management. The position will direct a team that will focus on: Cold calling & Prospecting, Analysis, Research and Managing Data on a national basis.

 Responsibilities (include but not exclusive to the following): 

  • Manage and lead cold call activity to prospective acquisitions and manage appointments with Corporate and Regional Leadership
  • Lead data collection efforts of on companies, firms, etc. and become an expert on the competitive landscape in target markets
  • Lead M&A team in the research potential firms and in preparation of customized presentations for Corporate/Regional executive team to use in meetings
  • Manage team research efforts on acquisition targets through multiple channels including insurance industry publications, internet prospecting, networking, employee referrals, Hoover's (and like) research, internet ads, database searches, etc.
  • Collaborate closely with Corporate and regional leadership on prospects
  • Collaborate closely with the Talent Acquisition team on competitive intel, landscape, producer resources, etc.
  • Demonstrate strong industry and Agency M&A acumen with limited ramp up time
  • Influence, guide and communicate with regional practice leaders and managers to identify acquisitions in USI's target markets
  • Manage and formulate financial reports based on public and shared private information including assessments on company revenues and staff resources and general due diligence
  • Communicate openly with sales force and talent acquisition team regarding market trends, intel, landscape, producer names, and pending and competitive acquisitions
  • Come up to speed quickly, and aid in translating potential target acquisitions into current prospects, using USI language and methodologies to begin the process of socializing the potential target
  • Manage the Agency Acquisition CRM, ensuring data is accurate and current, and run reports
  • Enhance marketing materials, and USI acquisition story, for positioning USI with potential targets
  • Travel as needed to other USI offices
  • Initiate tracking of key metrics for the National Acquisition team

 Key Skills Required:

  • 10 years of M&A, insurance sales, or financial services with insurance clients experience required-agency & corporate/business preferred
  • Proven experience leading a sales prospecting team and ability to coach and mentor a remote sales organization
  • Self-starter with a superior work ethic, attention to detail and a defined sense of urgency is a must
  • Excellent CRM and Microsoft Office Suite skills with advanced MS Excel capabilities and Internet and social media researching skills
  • An understanding of broker culture and practices and prior success influencing senior management in a highly matrixed organization is necessary
  • Broad-based insurance or financial services M&A experience is preferred
  • 4 year degree required
